Stp, this whole thing has my brain going too fast to sleep. Interesting you posed that comment/question as I'm looking at slides to get perspective also. On the RJ presentation slide 17 they show drilling progress to date. They show the Total Gas in white, which in a post awhile ago Pet mentioned the Orubadi formation, some of which is basically shale. I have always assumed that the only recoverable has worth getting would be in the carbonate/reef. But that slide and Phil's comments both state that there are indications of C1 (dry) and C5 (wet). If any of this "shale" gas is recoverable, I would guess Pet included that in his calcs today. To a layman like myself, I was confused when I saw the Total Gas above the "reef".
On your question on the drill "clippings" I read somewhere that it's common that they test these as they go using calcimetry (they did that in other wells). To test the formation makeup and can detect things like the Marl, calcite, dolomite, etc. So my guess is they've done it here (why not?). This also lets them know when they might be getting close to the Top Carbonate and confirms the seismics.
