Planet money did a spot recently about LaCrosse, WI where, according to a Dartmouth study Medicare costs were the lowest in the nation. One key to the reason for that is the focus of the study, LaCrosse's peoples' nearly 100% adoption of advanced health care directives, compared to about 30% nationally. Here's the link.
