Right it's no flare.  Too white and very square.  Another observation - no ear plugs or hearing protection.  Thats now standard for the oilfield.  This must mean no engines are running at the rig site.  A rig is a very noisy work environment.  This may have been taken before spud.  Both of my ears ring.  Likely at least in part due to being on rig sites in the days when hearing protections was not required.  I can't imagine the CEO would violate safety policy.  Large flares also can be noisy.  I imagine this just well site construction.

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a big cat out of a hat. That trick never works....

"Too white and very square"  Well now... where can we find white & square?  Take a look around the earth works of the well pad.  See any?

It is a 20ft white ocean container.  Likely privately owned by a services contractor.  SS lines mostly do not paint the ocean going boxes white. And the one that does, there is a large coporate logo painted in black on its long rectagular side.

What has occured is that the camera, likely digital, is searching for contrast.  The greatest contrast in colors is white and black.  These are called opposite colors.  The camera easly picks up the bright white and contour of the helmets as P&C noted, but as distance increases further to the container, the resolution breaks down resolving into a white glare.  Yes, the white glare is not a flair.

Think about a common experience.  The reason roads, particularly black top (asphalt) have white lines is that the driver can clearly see (contrast) the road lanes when when other color contrasting is not present (night time). Cognitively. this comman perceptual occurance or others may be interfering with a uncomman still picture we are viewing.

Now, if you take a visual step sideways and down from the glare, you can see the yellow tip and the red reflection in the holding pond. The red reflection even shows ripples as the high velocity gas push the surface in the outbound direction of the flair.

Location. Thanks for all of the PM's I received.  One clue is that the earthworks are essentially a long rectangle.  Start next to the tall red cylinder.  Also note, on the home page next to the diamond logo is another picture of Wahoo.

So, how is it possible to read the the top of the pocket wheel calculator in the engineer's pocket?

Simple to do, you make the image flat.

I don't think IOC saw this comming. Hope Dr.Mike still gets his bonus.

Hohoho
