Been meaning to post about this threat (or a similar one) since the US pulled out of Yemen a week or so ago. As ISIS (which I hate even giving any Sunni organizations like them different names; ergo: Taliban, Muslim Brotherhood, Al Qaeda, boko haram, etc)... but this group has been the most effective of Sunni Muslim jihadists with a stated goal of capturing Mecca and Medina (both in Saudi Arabia). Now they are in Yemen, and the reason I hate differentiating is the because of the shared ideology jumps groups/leaders/etc... just a couple days ago http://www.timesofisrael.com/saudi-grand...-churches/ the head mufti in SA called for the demolition of all churches. Is that SA, or is that ISIS?
One large pipeline, or exporting facility taken out I believe we have to completely rethink the middle east.
I have around 15 years experience studying Islam from the inside, and I think we (western thought/policy), completely misjudges the threat of this ideology... unfortunately, they are much more committed to their ideology.... one in which way to many "moderate" Muslims have so many common threads of shared ideology (even in the western world) with Jihadists that their success over there will provoke attacks here.
Anyway....Thank you Bush for taking out Iraq without being able to prop up another dictator..... Thank you Obama for supporting the Arab spring and really kicking things off. Thank them both for being so ignorant to think our western thought and government structure is going to work at all with their ideology.
