Dow Theory has a very good historical record, but once in a while it flashes a false signal, as in October of 2014. There is some thinking that we got such a false signal with the "flash crash" of Aug 24, but that remains to be seen. We don't want the Dow Industrials and Transports to break the previous August lows, at least not by much or for long. A Dow Theory buy or sell signal is generally a longer-term indicator.
It is almost certain there is NOT currently a "worldwide recession". That would be highly unlikely with the US, Europe, China, and India (and Japan?) still exhibiting positive growth. Even PNG is growing. (Ho Ho) We shall see what develops from here, but I don't see it yet.
