There was a point in the pleasantry when Paris was a quagmire, called Lutetia (mud-land) because, like frogs or toads, they lived in mud, but now it is quite an anomaly.

So all dictionaries are wrong. Yeah right. And in context you meant nothing derogatory. Right.

AU74, you should consider that some here, particularly those past three score and ten, do not consider your internet sources as proper dictionaries.  Judgments about the propriety of slang terms often reflect the fashion of the times.
