According to a report in the Financial Times, Apple is accelerating development of augmented reality glasses, or smartglasses. It was during Apple's fiscal 2016 Q3 earnings call in July 2016 that CEO Tim Cook uttered the immortal words:
Since then, there have been numerous reports concerning Apple's development of AR glasses and the FT report is only the latest. At this year's CES, blogger Rober Scoble claimed in a Facebook post that he had talked to an employee of Carl Zeiss AG who confirmed rumors that Zeiss and Apple were working on smartglass technology.. . . AR can be really great. And we have been and continue to invest a lot in this. We are high on AR for the long run. We think there are great things for customers and a great commercial opportunity.
