My guess this model is for the Samcheok terminal which is under construction now and first supplies are scheduled to start in 2013/14. The original plan was for a lot of gas to be piped from Russia, but now that's unlikely because it has to go through N Korea. So shipping will be LNG from Russia and ? This guy from Post Courier is no doubt being told that LNG from PNG will be a source for SamCheok per his comment. What will the Weekend Edition bring as far as further details?
We need to keep an ear to the meetings in Russia and China that O'Neill is attending. A lot of discussions around energy and Russia will be a major player based on articles I read last night. Hillary is there representing US since Obama is too busy campaigning and Russia will use that to their advantage it appears. If some of what is being said is true though Hillary seems to be playing with Russia since Russia is now part of WTO. The US wants to get into the Russian market so there seems to be a lot of cooperating going on in these meetings. There has been a bit of fighting between S Korea and Japan in recent months regarding trade with energy part of that. Also of course China is heavy after at sea resources and barbing with Japan and others. It appears that Russia, now with its WTO credentials, is wanting to act as a mediator/broker in all of this. They are just concluding some talks with Japan on LNG and is also talking with China and SK. What could happen in these talks is an almost NAFTA type arrangement where these nations work together and use the huge LNG hub in none other than Singapore along with direct agreements to make sure suppliers (PNG being one) and consumers agree to work together to assure adequate supply and cooperate to keep prices from getting out of hand. Why else these recent trips by O'Neill and the waiting on any announcements? Why else the recent resurgence of the EWC modular? Why else the JKM consortium when we hear about recent flare-ups between Japan and SK? Why else this reporter's trip to SK when O'Neill is going to Russia and China? You can see this coming together at a time when Russia is emerging on the WTO scene, China is trying to feed its own economic engine, and the Asia/S Pacific region is emerging as a huge economic hub while Euroe and the US flounder with economies and politics.
I think we will hear something major in the next couple of weeks after these summits produce some agreements and it will make sense for the whole region. Here is a link to the SamCheok project:
