LNG can't be distributed through a pipeline. It would warm up and expand in an uncontrolled fashion. Boom! (A tanker truck would be a mobile bomb. :-) ) Methane is only stable in the liquid form at very low temperatures. It takes an expensive plant (the "terminal") at the receiving end to safely transform the very cold dense LNG to much expanded much warmer natural gas, the stable gaseous form which can be distributed through pipelines.
