OSH announcement of Papua LNG; a bit better

O Sage a happy birthday to you and the USofA.

Sorry to hear about the beer diet. While Palmster's recommendation of the good wines of the northwest as a beer substitute are worth considering I hear there's another beer substitute in Colorado that cures a lot of ills :-)

My best to all for a happy and safe 4th.

Art- Speaking about the "wines of the northwest" , for our 50th several years ago, our kids sent us to the Napa Valley . We did several vinyards, the Wine Train , had a couple of dinners at Mustards and visited some other tourist locations.Very enjoyable. As for the "Colorado benifit" , I  better pass (but thanks) ! Since our 63rd is coming up in August, if I tried that ,I might not make it.[ I guess there's no dinosaur like an old dinosaur,,Ha ] Hope your weekend (long) ,has been a good one .

I think the reward of the "most gentlemanly" on this board has to go to you. I hope you have many more happy holidays with you & yours. Well said Palmster. Happy 4th to all and thanks all again for your helpful input to this board.

Spartina-Thanks for your kindness.....however, I truly believe the reward can be egually shared by some of the other members on this fine board . If a few on the mb aren't exceptionally gentlemanly, I believe they make up for it in variable, knowledgeable skills that add greatly to our overall goal.....getting great results from our investment which can be used in a positive manner in the future. Again, thanks for your words....I will try harder to live up to them. My best to you, sir.

The primary additive difference between this and IOC's pr is OSH's mention of current discussions with the PNG Government and pending supportive statement from it, a key item, of course. Perhaps IOC did not want to dilute that pending release from the Government. There is also a little more site detail, and an update on appraisal wells, although including nothing new on the latter.

On the other hand, IOC included a statement I would consider of some importance not in the OSH pr, i.e., "InterOil Chief Executive Dr Michael Hession said the venture would now enter basis of design, a significant milestone for the Papua LNG project", sometimes referred to as "BOD". I would suggest this is included in Total's development schedule/timeline in presentations as part of "FEED", shown as starting at the end of Q2, in which case would not indicate any significant slippage in the previously shown timeline.

Happy Birthday, sageo!

Thanks Getit, and my thanks to all of the "happy birthday" wishers. Had a great one....got a new self-propelled Toro for the lawn . The kids said I could save it and give it to Mom for our anniversary next month....(our long term agreement : she cuts the grass and I do the pool cleaning) . Thought about hiring some help, but todays temporary price drop in the pps might delay that for a time. Ho,ho. Good luck to all longs.

Just back from 4th weekend. Glad you had a happy birthday, Sageo. Your input on SHU has always been a bright spot of gracious, thoughtful, and courteous insight and is always welcome. Have a wonderful year while we all watch IOC finally reach for the pps we have hoped for; and may your next birthday find you hiring some help with the pool and lawn!

I personally have no idea how you can select a plant concept without establishing key basis of design parameters.  A lot evidently turns on how much gas is really available, that apparently being the key parameter.  Only when that information is in hand will they be able to determine the number and size and type of units necessary to process this gas.  (Sure sounds like "concept selection" to me.)

Even IF you believed that concept selection can preceed basis of design, which in turn precedes FEED....we will be well  over a year past the time when we should have gotten appraisal based payment.  Sure sounds like a delay with at least a few echos in its wake.

Somebody is running this project the way they want and on the timeline they want (unless of course there are unsolved political problems.  Ahem).   We don't even know who that somebody is as we don't know anything about the JVOA operatorship transition.  Hell, we don't even know what that means or if that's happened yet although something I believe OSH released suggested that IOC is still the operator of record.

Don't forget the role the National govt has yet to play. Parliament and the DPE must have their actions play out yet which will include the approval of Total as Operator. Some pomp to take place before things can proceed.

What is your basis for saying, "we will be well over a year past the time when we should have gotten appraisal based payment"?

I don't think basically any companies would be publicizing all the details you are asking about and complaining about not knowing, as much as I would also like to know more.

I don't think any appraisal work or any Total study and planning work will be frozen in place waiting for some government "pomp".

"I don't think any appraisal work or any Total study and planning work will be frozen in place waiting for some government "pomp". "

Who said that it is? Whole different thing having government approve initial concept and appoint Total as Operator and continuing operations.
