Petromin did in fact try to disrupt the process by reaching out to bidders with misinformation. Bidders contacted O'Neil who dealt with it swiftly. DID NOT slow the process down. All bidders reassured - SMs, utilities and NOCs. Petromin had the shorts back but Petromin did not and cannot impact sell down. They are not in the loop nor have they been on bids. Everyone flying blind until announcement. Which side would you take?
Soon.
Well done Sam! So your digging discovered the answer to, "Why was Kalinoe's name on the new contract between Petromin and JAPEX, but Kalinoe was not there to sign it?" Amazing isn't it that people blamed IOC and management for the delays in getting a deal done, and here all along it was Petromin feeding misinformation to bidders and making IOC look bad. Wait till THAT hits the presses. 100% sure on this? Pretty darn close.
I am very certain and would not have posted otherwise. I suspect this is what happened in Dec and Jan as well. Sealed bids takes care of leaks. There were no leaks here, just AG like misinformation being spread by an unauthorized Petromin. Thats all done now. I've seen some here post about a bidding war but the bids are in. A bidding war might come later but IOC is not scrambling to squeeze a good deal out of bidders. I think they have thier choice of very good offers. I wouldn't be surprise to see PTT Involved along with JKM and XOM.
I agree on the bids and stated that a few weeks back. You create a can of worms when you fool with sealed deadline bids, at least in my industry.

And an amazing thing is that people want to doubt Operation Equus quagga is/was a reality. Petromin all chummy with IOC for so long, congratulating them and Mitsui, signing agreements with JAPEX that had EA as part of the plan, etc etc. Then "wham" a hoof to the gut changes everything! Right up to the end there has been efforts, then we hear from Tarules, "Shell is POd". Bummer

Can't be! I thought Phil greed and hubris trumped IOC's ability to take great deals any day for the last couple of years?? And all along, maybe some GCI in key Departments and appointed ministries could have maybe kinda contributed to honest misunderstandings which may have fostered potential delays???
WoW. Guess the GCI at Petronas weren't good role models after-all.

The $100 million Shell offer got some persons quite excited to collect their prorata share.

How dare they!. Lock them up!
Since when is even expressing a modicum of doubts a criminal offense here, especially if one has fairly good reasons for these? What are we, a church?

Since when is one not allowed to have, let alone express, some doubts? What are we, a church?

Nothing quite as dramatic, I'm just amazed that Palm is amazed that someone else (which would be me) has some doubts, even if he already convened the pretty good reasons for these doubts. And since when is it amazing to have (actually, the line literally says "to want", but I'm sure that's just awkwardly worded) doubts? I live in a world of probabilities, not certainties, and few of these probabilities ever reach a full 100%. But maybe that's just me. Or, alternatively, Palm could just explain why it's so amazing to "want to" have some doubts..
