IOC's sucky Data Room
#11
How sucky is it??

It's so sucky the XOM engineers camped in it have been forced to endure PNG muzak for the last 4 mos.
It's so sucky IOC had to hire a CEO/PetEngineer type to do DD to determine what IOC might have!
It's so sucky it probably makes XOM's bid not-accretive!!

Absolutely ridiculous.  I have been to and put together many data rooms...absolutely ridiculous to imagine.

Petro, sorry to be so dense on the subject, but how do you mean that? It's a ridiculous claim by
"Peter", and he either does not know what he's talking about or is making it up?

Peter only sees part of what is happening. Pretty typical for technical types. While they have the capacity to understand things there are others in higher positions that know that knowledge is power. Hence the Peters of the world can only do their best with what they are given.

Don't misunderstand me. I don't think IOC has been hiding anything, only the Peters of the world don't have access to the information necessary to do their job with excellence and once in a while the consequent lament appears.

Spoke with WA today.  WA said it is "complete horse shit" that there were any complaints about the data room.  Shell may not be pleased b/c there was only info in the data room about PRL 15....so if you want all the info on the other prospects (in case you wanted to make a bid for the entire company), then Shell might be annoyed.

Seems some on Yazoo just can't understand how this can be. There is nothing wrong with the state of the data room and since bidding was for a piece of PRL 15 that's what there eyes were able to see as part of that process. IOC then can allow others to see T2 data or other prospects as they choose. It's not like a high school art class where people can wander around and look at all of the work. Lots of very valuable and detailed info treated as "eyes only".

I'll reiterate that Ford stated different bidders wanted to see and were given different data. There wasn't one data set. Consequently it is logical to expect that confidentiality agreements were adapted to the data sets presented. Shell may have felt left out? What a shame.

Of course, I may have been given, or Ford may have had, inaccurate information. Que Sera, Sera.
