NQ acquisitions in 2013

NQ acquired the following companies in 2013 as per the 'Goldbaum Research' article on seeking alpha.  I think since the author didn't find much information on most of the acquired companies, he just marked them as suspicious acquisitions. This article didn't cover FL Mobile and VLife as they were acquired in 2012 and 2014 respectively.

1. Best Partner Ltd (WAPS)  -  $26 million
   
   • This company provides advertising services for mobile internet platforms. www.waps.cn
   • Go to slide 17 of this presentation http://www.slideshare.net/rigoba/fl-mobile for proof that WAPS is a subsidiary of NQ
   • WAPS provides Adnovo advertise platform of NQ mobile, their website is http://adnovo.nq.com .Most of the NQ advertisement revenues are now generated from Adnovo platform. Go through email addresses on this page http://www.adnovo.com/about/contactus.jsp?type=1 for proof that ADNOVO is provided by WAPS.

2. Asia Smart Media Inc  -  acquired 35% for $1.9 million
   
   • I don't find any website or "verifiable" business of this company. Ignoring this acquisition as NQ spent very small amount on this.
3. NQ Shenzhen  -  $2.1 million
   
   • NQ is actively hiring developers and managers/directors for this division and posted 17 job postings for 17 positions. http://nq.hirede.com/careersite/index (open in chrome. filter the jobs by department : 'NQ (Shenzhen)' ) .
4. NQ Mobile KK (NQ Japan) - acquired 85% for $1.2 million
   
   • NQ Japan is engaged in the plan, development, management and a sales enterprise of Security products, Application, Games, Internet Advertising and other activities ancillary to the above for Mobile, Smart phone, PC and other intellectual properties.
   • I don't find any website or "verifiable" business of this company. Ignoring this acquisition as NQ spent very small amount on this.
5. Beijing Fanyue  -  $40 million
   
   • This is a subsidiary of FL Mobile. Go to slide 17 of this presentation http://www.slideshare.net/rigoba/fl-mobile
     
   • Company website - http://www.apkshow.com/about.php This company is also known as '帆悦' (Sail Wyatt in English). This company is mobile internet advertisement integration and marketing solution provider and also one of the largest off-line user acquisition channels in China .

6. Beijing Tianya Co., Ltd  -  $20 million
   
   • Tianya is a developer of mobile healthcare applications and search engine marketing. But their main business seems related to promote rank on App store.

7. Beijing Century Hetu Software Technology Co., Ltd - acquired 20% for $1.7 million
   
   • This company is a mobile game developer and they released games such as First Empire and Pocket Dream.

9. Shanghai Yinlong Information and Technology Co., Ltd  -  acquired 55% for $7.4 million
   
   • This company is also known as Doreso. Yinlong is a developer of music search technology. The technology is used in NQ Mobile's Music Radar app.

10. Nation Sky  -  $35 million
    
    • NationSky is the enterprise portion of NQ's mobile security business. This company is valued at $530 million recently.

To my surprise, on NQ hirings site, I do see around 10 job postings for 13 positions for department: 亿拍 ('one hundred million shot' in English on Chrome). Found company website http://expai.com . This company is incorporated in 2012 and also a subsidiary of NQ. A chinese advertising technology company making interactive technology pioneer and market leader in visual search technology.  NQ started with strategic investment in Expai in early 2013, I think now NQ owns 100% of this company as I see job postings of this company on NQ hirings site. I guess NQ will mention about this acquisition in next earnings call.

Thank you donlongava. Yes, website seems to be up now. After going through the website, I noticed that it belongs to 'one hundred million shot' company, which is incorporated in 2012. Seems to be a new acquisition by NQ in 2014. Updated first post of this thread accordingly.

NQ mobile invested in Expai in early 2013. You can find detail of their business in below link

They have 2 app on android platform, both related to image search technology. I checked their downloads on the App store and both have only hundreds downloads. So right now they are very small businesses

btw, i might be wrong about relation between Best Partner and Adnovo, but i remember I heard it from somewhere that Adnovo is from the acquision of Best Partners

That might be misunderstanding of the company. If you click APP download link, 3 APPs they provide on Android are for health care. But other than that, i don't see any relationship of that company with health care.

The website is for sure Beijing TianYa's website. It has self-intro on home page.
