While its always nice to read positive articles on IOC, I wouldn't get too excited about anything coming out of either Seeking Alpha or The Street.  Today its a positive article ... tomorrow its the opposite.  In the hierarchy of sources for this kind of information, I put Bernstein near the top and SA or The Street at or near the bottom.

Seeking Alpha is merely a publication. It is comprised of an unlimited number of contributors so the quality of the commentary can only be graded on the basis of the specific writer responsible for the given post. No full time Editor is provided like a newspaper where the political bias can be recognized. So don't give kudos or criticism to the publication.....only the writer of the given article.

Clarification:

"Seeking Alpha's editors are responsible for selecting and editing contributed articles and producing Seeking Alpha's own content...Seeking Alpha's editors also monitor our Interactive Q&As to ensure cordiality. All Seeking Alpha editors adhere to our full compliance standards."

Apparently, they edit mostly for language, "cordiality", and such, and do not or cannot accomplish much regarding the accuracy or quality of the content.

I am, by no means, defending Seeking Alpha or any of its authors or editors, but simply clarifying that they do exercise some editorial control over the articles that they publish and that they have full time editors to do so. I think that you can also see from the quote below that their editorial definition of 'credible' may not be quite the same definition as SHU posters would find reasonable.

One final point:

"Seeking Alpha tries to select outstanding articles from credible authors and edit them for clarity, consistency and impact."

SA is a platform, many times it's very difficult to assess articles even if one is quite familiar with the company in question and since they cannot hire editors who are specialists in every US listed company, one can imagine the task should they attempt, otherwise than to check for sources and language and stuff like that. So quality and intentions vary widely.

They argue that if you have objections to an article you should submit your own and something like a 'wisdom of the crowd' process ensues.

By the way, I have nothing but good things to say about George, one of the editors.
