CAC the IOC lawyers review what can be said and can't be said especially on conference calls . Same at every publicly traded company . I have no specific knowledge about discussions between Interoil mgt and their lawyers . I do have a working knowledge of lawyers putting a lid on things management wanted to talk about but management was advised to not talk about it . Happens everyday in corporate America.

And your response is precisely why there are regulations. This entire controversy makes the issue of relevance self evident. But then I don't ever recall where a lawyer has ever been in a legal dispute over the question of a law's applicability

Phil gave us a blow by blow of his one at a time well drilling and we had incredible volatility .
Isn't this better nothin but the know facts . Think Hession would say $4-5 per mcf on a call????
What matters is do we any level of known commercial hydrocarbons ?..
If we have commercial quantities what size and type .
Sure it's more fun with a blow by blow but not required . Why it isn't known yet if this drilling activity is of any commercial value yet. Will it affect the companies potential reserves. ?.
The costs are material and they are fully divulged.

It probably does happen everyday in certain contexts.  It is also probably does not applicable in this context.  The things PET asked about ("flow rate", "choke size", etc.) are operational details that lawyers likely wouldn't bother to "put a lid on".  You can defend management all you want (and for whatever reason you want), but implying they haven't given us this information "because the lawyers won't let them" just makes no sense.

JFT- As far as I can see they did not touch the subject during 2014. The last information was in the annual report 2013.

Take a look at the last presentation slides . Look at say Raptor look at ownership under the name minorities . To stay an owner requires the partner to put up cash by a certain date . No cash no participation no longer listed as an owner as a minority partner.

The presentation sheets simply show the option rights. If you look at point 8 of the condensed consolidated interim financial statement, you see movements in liabilities for current and non current participation interests. Can you explain this to me?

I think we all believe Hession knows a lot more than what he is revealing. I wish he would say this is what we know and this is what we need to find out. He could have said this is why with old information we drilled where we did and with the new information we wish we had drilled in this location. We need to give him credit for no apparent leaks.i wonder though if the  4  big shareholders know more than we do.

Calvin- I believe your first statement "rings true".In the pdf that Pet just posted,the first question under "Conclusion" on page 12 asks "Does the situation feel right"? When 2-3 month wells turn out to be 8-9 (or longer) month wells,that question sure jumps out at me. Not complaining,just wondering out loud. ( no,not selling !) I still wish us all good luck in the long run!

With the stocks history of volatility , removing some of that volatility makes sense for investors. Did the level of past detail increase volatility most would say yes to that . SHU/yahoo is loaded with arm chair quarterbacks .
Does a CEO have a fiduciary duty to shareholders ??Most would say yes. Removing that volatility has chased the shorts . Volatility is great for short term traders but bad for investors .
Did the lawyers advise Hession the best way to chase the shorts was remove the volatility??
How to remove the volatility ?.One way is to minimize the level of detail that gives the arm chair quarterbacks trading info .

I'm all for them removing volatility - I just wanted them to do it with the stock price at $90/share !!!!

Maybe the whole of the oil industry should stop reporting as a means of reducing the volatility of oil prices.

I for one would much rather see my stock value increased reflecting an announcement that gas and condensate have been found present in Bobcat and why Raptor results have yet to be disclosed.

Please tell us you are not reporting out opinions from IOC insiders.  The would give considerable comfort.

JFT, I have no faith that the IOC lawyers would NOT hold back I formation if they thought they could get away with it. I also have zero faith that the SEC will enforce anything so there is almost zero risk to IOC to hold back some information. They may drop a teaser (ie they found hydrocarbons) and not let us know the quality and quantity to the best of their knowledge at a specific time. The SEC is a weak, hollow, manipulated body kind of like the UN. I suspect they know more or have a better idea and chose not to tell. Is that good or bad, not sure yet, but I suspect this is certainly the case.

An interesting implication of this is Hession et al can't be buying because they are holding back on so much material information relative to the presence of hydrocarbons in reservoir structures. Pet's recent post (http://shareholdersunite.com/mybb/showth...p?tid=7668) relative to the obligations of a company to report the discovery of hydrocarbons within three days to the DPE director suggest's Hession is skating on thin ice. (OK, maybe not the most appropriate metaphor for PNG). They had wireline logs October 21st per their press release of that day.

In any event, should the same scenario occur at Bobcat it will be about 3 weeks from the start of logging (Nov 14th it was ongoing) before we get something out of Bobcat.

I'd still like to know how they moved all that structure over to A5 so quickly.
