MS ups Oil Search

Stavros has it nailed we have no business defining material information for this company . If one listens to CNBC during earnings season you hear many companies that report information only quarterly . One name you can check quickly that only reports quarterly and then minimum info is Amazon.
Comparisons to what other companies may do has no bearing on what Interoil choses to do .
That said information may be freer flowing after Interoil receives the Total payment . Monthly drilling updates would be nice but they are not required .
Hession has chased the shorts that's a positive for his approach.
Did all that detailed info Phil gave us get a deal done?..
Hession got us this grand deal with unlimited upside . Mr. Market the price per share requires how much money this year will Total pay out . That answer is likely months away still . Lots of clues for those that put together the puzzle pieces. Most trust PET and his work and he thinks we certify 10 T's . Others think 10.9 T's or both very close . Adjust upward if Ant Deep /South has the expected 2-3 T's. When it's all known the best buying opportunity is gone .

JFT, Hession may have chased the shorts, but did he have to make them rich in the process???

I don't think it is Hessions approach that is chasing the shorts away.  If you have proof that is the case, please post it.

A year plus ago, the Total deal was announced and the pps plummeted.  The reasons are multi-faceted including removing the then current upside speculation and the then current downside speculation.  The stock has settled into a perceived current value range that is undervalued, at least IMHO.

When one looks at the volume and pps action on that fateful day in December when the deal was announced, it was pretty obvious that both short and long speculators were unloading and I'm sure stop loss orders were triggered all the way down the ladder fueling the drop

Put away your rose colored cheer-leading glasses.  Hession didn't chase the shorts away.  The Total deal did.  At least, that's the way it looks from here.

The short interest under Hession is down 71%. The price per share is down 45%. It is the age old question: what came first the chicken or the egg?

I'm waiting for a chicken to come lay a golden egg. But my scuba tank is running out of air due to the length of my stay under water.

Ever since Katie left me I need something to jump up on the couch and dance about.....maybe 2 billion resource payment would ease my suffering

You will be surprised when you get answers that are nearly 180 degrees opposite two your ruminations that you post here. When I questioned them regarding drilling results they also gave me the same answer, to wit: "The drilling results you refer to were not issued by IOC. They were disseminated by Oil Search in a Press Release. We have no control over, and no comment on, the content of their PRs. We don't view interim drilling results, drilling delays, flash fires, rig damage or government-imposed stoppages as being material information to our shareholders or the investing world. This is because Antelope 4 is not on the critical path. We believe that all timelines for certification of the PRL15 assets, and subsequent payments from TOTAL, are still valid .... etc "

Thank you for the additional information, Stavros; that gives me the better understanding I was seeking.  However, not saying that you have (don't recall), but just in case for the future, you should never accuse me of being condescending to anyone, since that would be hypocritical of you.  I not only have both their email addresses,  I have used them more than once, and posted some of the information.  I did not care to send them an email about the drilling results and explanations/comments already posted.

I would be interested in knowing which two of my "ruminations" they contradict.  I would not know which ones to ask them about in that regard.

Obviously, from the response you got I appreciate your posting, their not publishing their own information or comment was not because OSH already had, as implied by someone else, but simply because of their own policies and procedures and interpretation of materiality.  Therefore, I do not see that as an indication that "something is broken internally", as stated by someone else, even if you disagree with the policy, as I also do to some extent.

What I also find interesting from this and previous information is that it appears OSH issued incomplete and inaccurate information on IOC drilling and suspension, and apparently with negative ulterior motives.  IOC, however, consistently, is still not commenting on it because of their general policy on materiality and specific policy against commenting on OSH, or other company, PRs; they are being consistent and taking the high road, like it or not.  I guess winning, ultimately, and perhaps avoiding public disputes when possible, is more important.

The Interoil price per share fix is in the house . Ant 5 results have the ability to significantly improve the estimates . "Mgt is giddy over Ant 5 results " .
Until we receive the certification number that exact impact is unknown . Then we need the actual dollars receipt from Total . The question is will we slowly rise before the payment or have to wait until we get that payment ???
IOC mgt also says this "Many believe the Total payment will be in the $2 Billlion range this year".
That's $40 plus per share in cash received ..That significantly helps the price per share .
It's these unknowns of the exact asset size and the payment size that are holding back the PPS.
Maybe we hear more about the asset size work Mar 17th.
This to will change later this year .
