They said the best interval was in the lower zone though."Wireline log data and shows in rotary side wall cores suggest moveable hydrocarbons to 6,660 feet (2,030 meters) with the best reservoir pay interval between 5,584 feet (1,702 meters) and 5,764 feet (1,757 meters) MD (measured depth)"

Looks like on the sesmics (granted, I should not even be reading them) on

page 24

That the t-3 lower section of what they said was the better zone is multiples larger than Tri-2 well. On page 24 I assume that red line is the marl rock seperating the upper and lower sections.

Thanks for those pdf reminders. I had printed the page 24 for my IOC file a short time ago,but did not have the page 16 in my file,so now I've got one. It will be very useful for comparison purposes if we get some dst from the #3 well in the coming weeks. sageo.

My 2 cows - Each day now I am feeling more possitive about Tri #3 . This am,in one of Palm's post (thanks Palm),he mentioned the August 13,2012 post concerning the #2 well results.[...they were getting ready to move the rig to the Ant #3 location]. When IOC announced their choice for the location of our Tri #3 well, I was baffled because the SW idea to me was the ideal choice (provided we didn't cut the fault) .Now,with more info and research, I belive that they figured the SW location would be very good for the upper reservoir, but would probably not contain the lower reservoir. [.....they also had up-dated seismics to the NW which I don't believe we were privy to at the time ]. Since the lower reservoir in the #2 well contained good condensate,it will be interesting to see our results in the #3 if we are truly a couple of hundred feet or so higher and have decent porosity Out  of the 180 ' in the lower zone, it was mentioned that 131 '  of that was the most interesting .Best to you and yous.

I am pretty sure that what they were saying was that "the pay interval between 5,584 feet and 5,764 feet" is the best interval within the lower reservoir, or "zone", not in the entire well.

Of course, it remains to be seen what they will find in Triceratops 3.

Outside expert thinks highly of IOC assets:

Gulf gas volume is bigger: Expert

Source: The National, Monday August 3rd, 2015 By MALUM NALU

THE Papua (Gulf) LNG project can easily surpass the K19 billion PNG LNG project, it has been revealed. PNG oil and gas expert Peter Ken Gemar, who runs a mineral, mining, and oil and gas exploration consultancy, said the volume of gas in Gulf was bigger. Ken Gemar believes that the new field at Triceratops is bigger than Elk-Antelope. “So we’re definitely looking at big numbers in this place (Gulf),” he said. Ken Gemar said from his experience in Saudi Arabia, no exact figure could be given as new reservoirs would be found. “I see the same story in Gulf. I’m talking 25 years from now. In our lifetime they will happen.” Ken Gemar said Gulf needed the support of all provinces to make the LNG project happen. “Before it gets in, we need to get our agreement locked in and done properly,” he said. He said a Gulf gas hub should be established at where all kinds of business could be done at special purpose vehicles (SPVs). These included agriculture, power, manufacturing, medicine, processing of iron ore, and others. Ken Gemar said condensate was an industry on its own which could be developed at this gas hub. “We have the resources to develop all these industries for the next 25 years based on 15 TCF, we can do it,” he said. Petroleum and Energy Secretary Rendle Rimua agreed with Ken Gemar. “Only in Gulf, we have about 14.85 TCF, and as I said, these numbers never come down,” he said. “They will continue to go up, they will appreciate over time. Elk is sitting on 8TCF. We’re thinking that it will not go down. “We have 14.85 TCF but it could be 15. In the next six months it could be 20. May be 10 years from now, it’s going to be 30. That’s going to keep appreciating.”

"Secretary Rendle Rimua agreed with Ken Gemar. “Only in Gulf, we have about 14.85 TCF,"

So...where does the secretary got this - down to .85 TCF - number?..... anyone?

Freddie your point is this is a very specific number and yes it would be nice to see whose work was used to determine the number . Higher than GLJ.
