$85 per share and $4.4 billion would have most agreeing for an Exxon or other to come in and take the whole enchilada away from OSH and TOT. That would be an exchange of stock and/or cash. Would pay the fee that OSH and IOC negotiated for a break up. Why would a major not want the 16+ TCF. Feeds PNG LNG for the third train, creates parts they can sell off for a nice profit and could keep the government happy as well.
Sadly my only other experience with a takeover and pineing away for the rescuer company to raise the bid never materialized. So we got the OSH deal (in retrospect) and walked away very unhappy. So we can dream about those hero companies coming to save us. I hope it happens but have my doubts. Too many experts saying it is a good deal and it seems as though the collusion was well planned and put into motion.. Seriously, we either have way over inflated expectations or we have been led by the nose to belive this through the prognostications of previous and current management. Just cannot trust anyone.

If Exxon does not make an offer to buy IOC their management is as bad as ours.
They could offer us $4.4 billion ($88/share) and then all of the benefits of IOC's SPA with Total would acrue to them. They would get the interim resource payment, the FID payment, the first cargo payment and they would have the option for the second resource payment after production has commenced.
Since Total would be paying for about half of their cost (depending on resource size) Exxon would be getting IOC for about $44/share and they would get all of our licenses, Triceratops, Raptor and Bob Cat for free.

I assume XOM could effectively do so without the cooperation of Hessian and/or the Board? The fact that the OSH deal has a built in penalty intended to deter another suitor, and more telling, the fact that Hession likely has a future at OSH...but maybe not at XOM...leads me to believe he wouldn't be overly welcoming to XOM.
Pet has finally weighed in. Could it be that Hession took the OSH deal to bait XOM? We can guess that OSH has a wink wink going on with XOM and that could be accurate. But for IOC shareholders to win this is what has to happen.

Hession and the BOD would have a hard time rejecting a bid for $88/share. Or any amount that is clearly worth more than the OSH bid. Of course we will have to see if they bid and how much.

If it can be proven that "OSH has a wink wink going on with XOM", is that not anti-competitive collusion?

I would take 4 bill in XOM stock and go away quietly. I am also very concerned about what happens if shareholders are somehow able to block the current offer. We are not in a very powerful position at this time and it will get worse over the coming months. What do we utimately get??????

I serously feel all LNG players on PNG need Interoil gas more than we need them.

They need the gas but they do not need Interoil.

That is what Phil thought and it almost cost us the whole shooting match. Why is it that this is the best deal of all the interested parties? There is no indication that there is going to be a big bidding war on IOC assets no matter how badly we want it. What happens in 12 months or more if shareholders are successful in running off the current offer? My guess is the price slowly erodes till we run out of money and all we have is what we started with....stranded gas. I don't know that we can wait possibly 2,3,4,5 years till lng prices increase. My guess is we could have gotten 75 cent per from Exxon in 2009 and a piece of the plant which would be adding on mutiple trains now but Phil probably wanted $4/mcf and Exxon laughed.

"We have nothing to fear, but fear itself." This is what I am sensing on this, and many other threads. If we believe, as I think most of us do, in the resourse, then we should stop with the fear-mongering. There is an alternative. Step 1 occurs on June 14th. We must vote no to the current management and BOD. If step 1 is successful, then on to step 2. This requires that we excersize our right to immediately begin the engineering work to determine the size of the Elk/Antelope gas field. This should take a maximum of six months. Five days later, Total must pay IOC! Step 3 occurs on July 16th. The new managing director, the BOD and the shareholders (owners) of IOC must vote no to this disasterous, demeaning sale which Hession concocted. During this process (if step 1 was successful), the new management can negotiate with Exxon to provide enough gas from TBR to their 3rd/4th trains. The new management can also contact other supermajors regarding the sale of IOC for the benefit of the shareholders. There many other ideas for the management to deal with, but I will leave that to your imagination. Do not be afraid. Don't allow your fear to overshadow your logic/interests. This is business. Total will "screw" Oilsearch if it is in their own best interest. Exxon will always act in its own best interest. They don't care about Total or Oilsearch. If the new IOC management and BOD approaches Shell honestly, who can say they won't be interested. Surely they would like to deny Exxon and Total. These are only a few alternatives. There are many more. We must not allow our fear to overcome our judgement!

I don't think this is possible, to be honest. The partners have just agreed to drill Antelope 7 and certification can only proceed after that has been completed. We could hire certifiers but their reports would only be indicative, and in anyway, OilSearch is already doing this with the outcome expected before mid July.
