Asia-Pacific Crude-Excess supply, weak Japan demand weigh

SINGAPORE, July 9 (Reuters) - The Asia-Pacific crude market
was weak on Monday, depressed by excess supply and weak Japan
demand.
Unsold volumes of Nigerian and Mediterranean grades for
July-August continue to weigh on light sweet grades although
improving naphtha cracks could provide some support.
Medium and heavy grades were also under pressure as some
August supply remained unsold on weak direct-burning crude
demand in Japan.
"Japan's crude inventory is really high and they cannot take
any additional spot cargo" even if sellers reduce their prices,
a trader said, adding that Minas for August loading is still
available.
Japan's power demand is weak on mild temperatures and slower
economic growth while utilities prefer to burn cheap and clean
liquefied natural gas (LNG) first, he said.

Yes, this has always be my theme. Apart from the growing economies and growing middle classes, LNG is substituting other energy sources because it is cleaner and/or cheaper. These are structural shifts, especially in China were gas comes from a very low base (under 5% of the overall electricity mix while gas provides some 25% of electricity generation in economically advanced countries)

We tried at the AGM to do a mutiny. Hemi led the move with his great Canadian accent he sounded a bit like a pirate. Thought we were going to pull it off but Sir Rabbie is a great diplomat and he brought calm to the crowd and in the end we voted to retain management and the BOD to give them one more chance not to screw this thing up. How dare a small exploration company try and do something great. These guys' only prior experience in business was running an amusement park into the ground! What are we thinking Tree?

A gallant attempt it was, but I think the volume of Maui specials from Thursday night may have impaired your thoughts and actions. We asked whether at next year's AGM some of us might be able to make some of the motions; I bet they rethink all of that now. Again, many thanks to you for your efforts on this much new and improved site. Very functional and much faster. If not CEO of IOC, maybe they will hire you as head of web development for IOC/Liquid Niugini. They could use your help there.
