Papua New Guinea’s caretaker Prime Minister Peter O’Neill has been in talks over possible coalition deals with Sir Michael Somare who he controversially replaced last year.
Sir Michael Somare’s National Alliance is just one of a handful of parties in discussions with Mr O’Neill’s People’s National Congress which leads vote counting for PNG’s general election.
Back in Port Moresby fresh from his electorate win in East Sepik, Sir Michael has been seen on local television reports having talks with Peter O’Neill and other political leaders including former Prime Ministers Sir Julius Chan and Paias Wingti.
Vote counting is drawing to a close and it’s clear that the former ruling party, the National Alliance, has lost ground in this election.
However the PNC is on track to end up as the party with the most votes and is expected to be asked by the Governor-General to form a coalition government within the next week.

Hohoho, you know this Cannibal story is just "eating away" at PNG's reputation. And Somare must be getting over having a "bone to pick" with O'Neill if there is actually consideration of not "forking" O'Neill over to the SC for prosecution. Guess Somare wants to have some "skin" in the game of the new government and there's no reason to get "stewed" up over the past. All those issues from last year do nothing but cause one to "lose one's head" and not focus on the issues "at hand". Time to "bury the hatchet" fellas. The "eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth" mentality only "eats you up" with anger and resentment. So time for Somare to put his "best foot" forward and not "cut off his nose to spite his face". He and O'Neill can easily become political "broth"-ers and let "bone'-gons be "bone"-gons.
Hohoho
Oh, forgot to ask where you saw this idea of O'Neill and Somare possibly working together; very interesting if true.

Here it goes folks. It looks like it's going to be O'Neill, Somare, Chan, Wingti, Parkop, Ipatas vs Namah, Polye, Duma, Lelang, Agiru #PNG
He's been spot on so far with election info

Thanks Justin! Agree this guy is pretty tuned in. Just hope the Somare connection doesn't backfire on O'Neill. A lot of people were tired of the Somare ways and might fear not enough change would happen. But, we shall soon know. Writs due in 2 days (actually 1 in PNG).

Reports from Papua New Guinea say that the caretaker Prime Minister Peter O’Neill has been in talks over possible coalition deals with the party of the man he controversially replaced last year.
Sir Michael Somare’s National Alliance is just one of a handful of parties in discussions with the People’s National Congress which leads vote counting for PNG’s general election.
Johnny Blades reports.
“Papua New Guineans following local news reports last night were surprised to learn of Sir Michael, in Port Moresby fresh from his electorate win in East Sepik, in talks with the man he had branded an illegal Prime Minister and vowed to defeat since last August’s ousting. Vote counting is drawing to a close and it’s clear that the former ruling party, the National Alliance, has lost ground in this election. However Peter O’Neill’s PNC is on track to end up as the party with the most votes and best placed to form a coalition government. Mr O’Neill’s pre-election pact with the PNG Party of his deputy Prime Minister, Belden Namah, has wilted under the acrimonious exchanges between the two during the poll. Mutual opposition to Belden Namah’s abrasive style of leadership appears to have galvanised support for Peter O’Neill not just from the Somare camp but also the parties of former Prime Ministers Sir Julius Chan and Paias Wingti among others.”

"Mutual opposition" to Belden Namah is a good thing, and the fact that William Duma is allied with Namah is good news for truth and justice, i.e. IOC's best interests.
