Suggest the shorts are, well, disappointed and this wasn't their favoured outcome?
I think those who predicted a Somare win would be a disaster (almost invariably without argumentation) sort of banked on a last hurray for the shorts, but so far, I see very little hurray, despite favourable market cicumstances for one.

This whole afair puzzles me, todays green peak just adds to it , afteral the market is red too
I suspect that the pending deals have something to do with it

Here is a possibility. At Yahoo, there were many that predicted some kind of disaster in case Somare won. Not by putting forward credible arguments, but some general thesis that it would be bad. Since few really know what the consequences (if any) will be one could manufacture a panic, selling off on the news and then say, you see, it's a disaster.
Perhaps they tried, but stronger (and wiser?) hands prevailed. The buying in EWC is quite a nice indication, as it happens..

To be honest I never counted on a SC doing this.
Whats the point , Somare will never Govern anything anymore
