What is going on - not a peep out of the new CEO. The company has really gone quiet. Is this the calm before the storm?

The storm could take it up or down. Would be nice to here something good.
I prefer no often news but rather milestones really achieved and hardware really tested. If it is to go under - i prefer to be without the spam news and articles.

Hopefully, they are just slowing things down until the copper price improves. The collapse of copper was not something I thought was going to happen.

5G, you keep going on about the decline in copper price vs the cost of oil, but IMHO while the price of copper has decreased we are still near a several years high, and well within the copper-to-crude ratio price points we've seen throughout the development of the company. For comparison, here are the last 10 year begining year copper (USD/ton) vs. crude oil (US/barrel) price ratios (a larger number is better for us, as it means the cost to operate the vessel vs the cost of the ore is on our side).
For what it's worth, I picked up another 50K shares last week......I told myself I was done, but as long as Metallo and MB keep putting money into the company, I feel safe. (even if all we get is a buy out at the end)

The original post was about why there is no news. 2017 they issued Q2 financial results in August and did so this year. In 2017 they did offer more communications in Q3 than this year. But maybe nothing is going on. Maybe they are just doing finish carpentry on the ship. My guess is there will be a management discussion with year end results. As to copper, guessing, they can either speed up or slow things down depending on what they perceive as copper demand. Speeding things up requires better pay and the risk of industrial accidents so I can see why they are not rushing. On the other hand, the ship and equipment are rusting. Issuing shareholder statements exposes management to liabilities so I don't really blame them for not making many statements.

Can you explain how a buyout would work? As in, what the payout could be vs price paid? I'm on the fence about selling or doubling down.
Thanks, Collin

Thanks, Collin [/quote] I honestly don't know, and think anyone's opinion would be wild speculation. But.......given they have 326M in assets and 692M out-standing shares, any buyout conversation would have to start around ~.47 USD per share (yes alot of those assets are non-curent, mainly PPE, I know!) It's funny to think that at that price, Metallo and MB could take it private for ~150M........

Last question: is there a chance that something happens where the shares completely lose value or are taken away without compensation? I realize that there's risk, but I am not able to accurately define what the risks are to make a decision.
Thanks, Collin

You can accept or reject it. Buy Out: Shareholders vote to sell the entire company for a certain amount, you have no choice. The buy out price could be complicated as shareholders could complain the price is too low. If there are still large shareholders that hold shares they might hire a lawyer, but usually, the large shareholders would be bought out in advance. That would leave small shareholders that could not justify hiring a lawyer. I personally have doubts that Metallo+MB want to take NUS private. What would they gain? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
