“Again, we’re waiting for a decision by state on when the project will get formally off the ground,” he said of the Gulf LNG.
On Wafi-Golpu, Kalinoe said Petromin had been nominated by the state and was doing desktop studies as well as those on technical and economic aspects.
“We’re just waiting for the developer Wafi-Golpu Joint Venture to go through the process and wait for the final decisions,” he said.
“This is normal.
“The state nominated us through the minister for mining and the minister for petroleum.”

Nice find JFT. I think this is the first time we've seen Kalinoe and Gulf LNG in the same sentence since he yelled out there was oil at Ant 2! Them were the good old days.

Well it's good to know we shareholders aren't the only ones waiting on the NEC

So it's the NEC and only the NEC we're waiting for..after that confirmation all will fall in place, my best guess..what are the odds that this will happen after X-mas even if ONeill wants this to happen before?...let's see how much of a political heavyweight he really is in PNG...and it seems that things will not move with the speed of light because of this new government..too bad, but true.

Its all gelling , coming together. The negative rumors peak right before the real news and the good news comes out. Happens this way every time .Myabe the day before we get a mysterious rise in the stock not much before. The govt must have this deal. And IOC shareholders must have this deal.

Jft, what are your thoughts on if this gets done before or after the 3rd quarter earnings in two weeks or is that relevant at all to the decision? If the rumors we all have been hearing about Mgmt & Phil being on the ground in PNG are true I would assume they would want something announced pre-earnings and would be pushing for that with the govt

Does anyone believe IOC might be mentioned in O'Neill's 100 day speech?  That should happen a few days before our next earnings call.  Thanks
