Total gas sales volume by Tokyo Gas of Japan for the month of January came to about 1,565.712 million m3, increased by 39.812 million m3 (2.6 %) from that in January 2012.
In the residential sector, volume totaled 521.366 million m3, up 2.1% from January 2012, while in the business sector (consisting of commercial, public, and medical use), the volume was 292.100 million m3, up 0.8% from that in January 2012.
In the industrial sector, volume totaled about 540.293 million m3, up 7.8% from last year.
Volume for wholesale supply to other gas companies totaled about 211.953 million m3, down 5.5% from last year.
Gas sales volume for the cumulative period of April to January 2013 was 11,533.483 million m3, up by 5.8%.

South Korea, the world’s second-largest buyer of LNG, imported 3.98 million tonnes of LNG in January, up 38% from the same month in 2011, customs data showed.
The country imported 4.3 million tonnes of LNG in December.
South Korea paid $3.07 billion for the LNG imported in January, compared with $1.99 billion a year earlier.
