Kavo: Gulf Provincial Gov welcomes IOC/XOM partnership
#1

Kavo and the Gulf Provincial government are welcoming the IOC/ XOM partnership. They are saying they want all gas processed in Gulf. That will all be worked out. The CSPs will be in Gulf for initial processing. How they work out the rest will be up to O'Neill. Might be that the Gulf Province and LLGs get more ownership in any projects(s) as allowed by the Oil & Gas Act. Shortly we will know.

ELK AND ANTELOPE - GULF WELCOMES EXXON MOBIL

Gulf Provincial Government has welcomed the decision by InterOil to partner with Exxon Mobil to develop Elk and Antelope project in Gulf province.
The Gulf Provincial Government led by Governor Kavo has given their support.
But the full Gulf Provincial Executive Council Members made it clear that all gas must be processed in Gulf Province alone.
Governor Kavo said since 2009 his provincial government has been calling on the national government to develop the Gulf LNG in the province.
Governor Kavo used the opportunity to urged his people residing throughout the country to return home and part–take in this important development back home.
In the next 60 days, InterOil and Pacific LNG will be working with Exxon Mobil to furnish out the Final Investment Decision, one that is subject to final approval by the government.

Long ago Sir Kavo stood up for the Gulf.  I recall the bonfires for those of us that saw the darkness.

Kavo has met the misson.

Clearly Kavo and his gang are "aiming their water" (so to speak) into the wind. 3.5 Million tons per annum of gas will go to the PNG LNG Konebada plant site which is 20 kilometres northwest of Port Moresby, at Caution Bay, on the south coast of PNG’s Central Province. That's a given and has been approved by both the Honourable Peter O'Neill CMG and the Honourable William Duma. Why are the locals saying this when they know it's impossible to process all the gas in the Gulf Province? They'll have the CSP and pipeline projects to help construct in the next 2 years but not an LNG plant. I suspect they're posturing to get at least something built on the Bluff location - - - ie the 3rd bullet point in the PR which reads: • InterOil and Pacific LNG will have the optionality to either independently develop a second LNG project in the Gulf Province that may also use gas from PRL 15 and potentially other discoveries, such as Triceratops, or pursue further development with ExxonMobil Papua New Guinea Ltd. And why is Kavo saying he wants all the locals who've been wandering around PNG to come back home? Probably because he was told there aren't enough able bodied workers in the Gulf Province to build the elements of the project ... so he needs to get them back home very soon, before the CSP and pipeline construction begins. Palm ... It's extremely unlikey for the locals to get any more ownership of the projects thrown to them as a bone as it were. Your imagination is working overtime. NOOS

Not great news the local exec council wants it all, but I suspect this will be a small bump on the footpath as the road gets built.

JFT I think that is up for grabs at this point and not the main issue IMO. Most important is signing the deal with XOM. This give IOC all the fire power needed to find more gas. What happens after that is just growth from a pps of 250 on up Smile

Chandler obviously has some motive with buying more stock. Does he want more voting shares? Buying almost 20% of the outstanding shares as a single investor is not something you do to just trade a stock and make money off of it. He has a significant portion of his net worth in IOC. Not peanuts to him.

Me sees that he has a much bigger strategy at hand. It is hard to liquidate that type of position without a sale of the entire company or control. Is it EWC? Is it a way to get a sale of the company? Is it negotiating power with the majors that want IOC? He can use this leverage to get EWC in with the majors as they may need his votes.

Also remember that together with his buddy Paulson they own almost 25% of the company.

Something is going on here. Something BIG!
I am interested to hear some of the other opinions. We have not heard the last of Chandler here.
