Clipstream G1 required a java plug-in. Java has always been a little buggy; some bugs in Java put the computers at risk of hackers. Each new release of Java has different features. As each browser update was release, each Java update had to be fixed to work with the newest browser update. There was a perpetual problem of keeping the software updated to work correctly.

Nevertheless, Clipstream G1 was gaining some backers including some big companies using Java.

What really knocked out Clipstream G1 was the Adobe Flash plug-in that worked better than Clipstream with Java. Youtube founders took the Adobe Flash software and solved some of its quirks by automatically creating multiple formats of videos posted into their system. Youtube got bought by Google in 2006-2007 because the platform was the best option for distributing videos on the web. It allowed websites developers to use youtube rather than create videos on their own website and manage the video stream problem themselves.

What is different?

There were limitations in the Web Browser standards that prevented Clipstream G2 from occurring. HTML v5 is just maturing into the new standard. For one, it includes a 'video' tag that never existed before. As the v5 standard was formed, the arguments over how the pieces should work never got resolved completely in favor of one standard versus another. So the common use of multiple video formats for phones, PCs, TVs still exist.

Destiny began developing Clipstream before Flash existed and they never gave up trying to solve the business problem. They decided to apply the Javascript language in place of the Java language to solve their player requirement. No other company seemed to look at that option since they already had their systems working in their own way.

Since Javascript is native in every browser, Clipstream G2 does not need the player plug-ins that every other video needs. This provides Destiny an advantage.

Since I can't see the new version yet, I can expect that Destiny's Javascript enabled video player may not have all the bells-and-whistles that Adobe's players and Microsoft's players have. However, this system will work better for displaying small ads that run inside a documents - such as advertising. So the battle will be between a robust video player versus a fast, simple video player.

There are always competitors. To think that Clipstream G2 will wipe out the video competitors is foolish.

I see it as a faster, simplier, lower cost solution versus a more robust solution by the existing medi

Right now, if I want to put a video on one of my websites, the best option is to do the following: (1) load a video up to Youtube and (2) link that video into my web page document.

Clipstream G2 will allow me to encode one media file, put it on my website and let my own website run the video fairly efficiently without a video server or linking to a video server.

Companies who produce a lot of web videos will be the first big users of Clipstream G2 to avoid the Youtube advertising system or other costs to stream their videos. Educational businesses will really benefit.

You are spot on DD.
G2 solves many multi billion dollar problems.
Here's a couple more to consider, providing a universal flash-less player for mobile apps and DRM for those apps. G2 solves both.
App developers, just like ad developers, have to create MULTIPLE versions for every device/OS. Just because it's an app doesn't mean it doesn't face the same issues of a website with regards to video playing.
Also, securing the digital rights for content producers is almost impossible with html5 (see dsny latest investor presentation).
I highlighted a recent story to show you how G2 solves some more billion dollar problems.

I found several interesting webpages with keywords: Clipstream Video

Destiny seems to have offered Clipstream G1 to its enterprise customers as a computer server dedicated to stream Clipstream G1 videos.

Here is a webpage. I think is not currently used right now by Destiny Customers since the graphic logos seem to be missing. It includes some of the software configurations and server requirements to operate Clipstream G1.

Play MPE registered users growth rates:

In May 2009, registered Play MPE users were 28,000.
In Sep 2011, registered Play MPE users were 50,000.
In Oct 2012, registered Play MPE users are 61,467.

I am monitoring the growth rate of Play MPE using articles that I find that state the Play MPE statistics that are available at the Destiny website.

In May 2009, Universal agrees to expand Play MPE into 77 countries.

You DSNY investors know the story....just let this story play out.

Here are some nuggets that make G2 a very likely possibility for ANY video content producer player to consider when they use HTML5.

HTML 5 video offers the video stream and chooses between many video formats to seamlessly provide a stream to the end user without a player, but that link can't be encrypted.

There is no security at all. There is NO WAY to stop people from sharing or charge for the video.

Even the first version of Clipstream offers:

- encrypted streams that only play off of certain URL's and won't work off a hard drive or secondary website
- watermarked video

DSNY can sell a movie file that is encrypted to only play on the computer the viewer is accessing from. You can't do that with HTML 5.

Indiana Univ Publishes How to Use Video Streaming

I was looking for Clipstream articles. I found a comprehensive instruction set for using each of the current Video Streaming Players including Clipstream G1 with Java.

http://www.iupui.edu/~nmstream/live/howtoclipstream.html

This page shows the Clipstream G1 instructions. It also contains links to all the other media players; Flash, QuickTime, Windows Media, etc. I was not aware of a couple video streaming options.

We can compare Clipstream G2 against all of these other options.

Destiny's watermark would weed out the legitimate users, rather than a blanket piracy charge.

We are not relying on every word from CEO's mouth with regards to their current biz. It generates approx $4m and nets close to 800k.

The co has secured the trust of every major record label with the their distribution and analysis technology.

A few years ago (over 10), DSNY was considered a leader in the Internet advertising industry..until Java came along.

Every time you make a purchase on iTunes, you are using DSNY's original technology. They were inept at protecting the platform/technology with IP. I dont think the company plans to make that mistake twice.

Every tech rag/analyst has confirmed that technology that eliminates both transcoding and a plug in player would be very disruptive. We are weeks away from letting those people see it.

p.s the CEO is the largest shareholder and bought a substantial amount of shares in the open mkt this year.

The greatest complement to Destiny occurs when your competitors concede in court to avoid a more costly jury award.

Yangaroo agreed to pay 600,000 and give Destiny permission to use their two core patents without royalties. They faced a claim by Destiny that could have invalidated their patents and forced them to pay up to 25 million. Ouch. The patent use agreement allows Destiny to run its business while it keeps out other competitors who want to have video streaming solutions without having to own those patents or defend those patents in court. What a deal!

In Australia, Destiny settled for the 825,000 award with a promise of compliance to an agreement not to contact any existing Destiny customers. When Destiny already serves most of the music customers, that is a very big deal.

Do you notice that G2 is not shown on the DSNY website? (only thru a special link). They are NOT promoting the product yet..it's not ready. Why would you hire PR for a product that's not ready yet?

The press and marketing will come once they launch G2 (which is expected this month). That is ANOTHER part of the launch.

The appropriate people/companies are beta testing the product. The companies that rely on online video display and clicks, are both very anxious and excited about upcoming G2.
Making sure that G2 will work on all devices and OS is a very tall order.

As far as leap frogging the technology, they were very careful to protect this "player less"/"play anywhere" media concept in their patents.

If you ask any techie about G2's potential capabilities, they would confirm that this revolutionizes online media and is a very big deal.

You also have to know a little bit about the history with On2Technologies, Google and Destiny Media Technologies. If you know why Google bought On2technologies, and what they paid for them, you would get a better understanding why the CEO of DSNY was a huge buyer of stock in the open market last year when they announced just the concept of a "player less"/"play anywhere" media technology.

It's obvious you either don't know what G2 is or you havent been around that long. There's old Clipstream and Clipstream G2 (2nd generation)

G2 is Clipstream NON Java...it was announced Nov 11 http://www.dsny.com/node/1106

You can find the insider buying here:

And before you start saying that G2 can't compete with HTML5, I suggest reviewing other of the many posts that explain why HTML5 needs G2.

I think you're missing who DSNY's initial customer base is.

The people that require that every ad is displayed are advertisers. They spend a fortune on transcoding ads so every device/OS can play them. Making sure their ads get played is critical.

DSNY doesnt need to market to them. They already worked with them several years ago until Flash came along. In fact DSNY had reselling agreements with 150 ad agencies years ago. They published ads for McDonalds, Yahoo, Microsoft etc..very big names.

Dentsu, the 2nd largest ad agency in the world is a very good partner of DSNY..and yes they saw the very first version of G2 and are anxious to see the next version.

The ad agencies that produce campaigns for these companies already know about DSNY and the upcoming G2.

As soon as DSNY launches the next version of G2, they can start generating revenue for smaller ad campaigns but big campaigns require certification from 2 organizations...which they will submit their G2 platform to.

The companies that can license G2 already know about G2 and are just waiting for the next generation version.

If you think DSNY needs to market G2 to the consumer, you're wrong. DSNY just needs to let the Youtubes, Netflix, CNN etc know about this technology..I feel quite confident they already do.

Let me address your IE concerns.

The old standard was Flash. It's going away.

The new proposed standard is HTML 5 video, but it isn't one thing. Behind the scenes, it is Web M, H.264, Ogg Theora, etc. - many different video formats. It doesn't work on IE 8.

G2 also requires HTML 5. G2 doesnt use the video tag, but it uses other HTML 5 features. Because G2 needs HTML 5, it doesnt work on IE 8, but OLD CLIPSTREAM DOES. It can autodetect and launch old Clipstream for IE 8 and new Clipstream for everyone else. They don't think this will be needed, though, as most think IE 8 users will go away in the next six months.

IE 8 is about 15% of browsers currently, because XP users are not allowed to upgrade.

Hope this clarifies things.

We interviewed the CEO in the November Issue of How To Find Big Stocks Newsletter.

As the buzz about HTML5 grows, there is a critical component missing, namely digital rights management (DRM). Looking at the flowchart earlier in the newsletter, there is NO WAY possible that a content owner can keep track of where their content is and who is receiving it. Case in point, even though they are part of the “standard”, Netflix can’t use HTML5 because the video streams aren’t secure. This is another huge opportunity for Destiny. This month DSNY announced they have received a patent in Japan for their digital watermarking technology.

We asked Steve Vestergaard if they have been shopping the IP or application to big digital content owners. He said not only have they been talking to companies with digital audio and video content (movies, music etc), but he also has ideas for document watermarks as well!

This technology would address the massive 3d printing market. One company even made an offer to buy the IP. Steve feels this technology will be extremely valuable going forward and turned the offer down. One of the things holding any licensing deals back, is that they don't have the patent for this technology in Europe yet. They anticipate receiving this patent within 45 days.

The music market has changed in a year.

This week's results and next quarter will be revealing to that change.

The music industry is shifting to all digital formats for most of their music sales in 2013.

Universal just acquired EMI - although that acquisition occurred after the quarter ended.

The PlayMPE v5 has been underdevelopment for a couple of years. The improvements may spur more users.

The PlayMPE software is now in 5 languages. DSNY has mentioned up to 27 languages to accommodate global music markets. The growth schedule is currently targeting German, French, and Japanese music markets.

I don't need to see huge numbers, but a comparative better quarter to last year would be great to see. Q4 is typically their worst quarter for sales - so I can't expect huge numbers.

Q1 released in January will be their biggest sales of the year for PlayMPE revenues. Those numbers will a better comparative given the Universal acquisition and the Christmas season.

Anybody have an opinion on this? From Pumps & Dumps:

It should not be a surprise to anyone that stock message board Investorshub.com is generally controlled by the promoters who pimp their garbage to a mostly unsuspecting public. These promoters place several, if not dozens, of subscribers onto the message boards of the particular scam du jour (today NILA) and invariably control the content of the board by having their members named as moderator of the board. In this way, negative postings can be postly kept to a minimum.

In fact, the powers that be at Investorshub.com have themselves have been found culpable of taking part in promotions and Pump & Dump schemes, and at least one principal of the website has served time at a government resort for comitting stock fraud. It is well known that the adminstrators of these message boards tend to favor the schemes over the safety of those who actually rely on the fraudulent and manipulative information usually gleneaned from Investorshub.com.

802 DoughDiligence
I do not mind negative posters if the poster has facts to back up their statements.

There are no official board moderators on DSNY. There has not been a problem here so far.

I know there are problems with other stocks. TAGG was mentioned here. I count that stock as a bad pump and dump. There are many other companies who have dubious business plans and meager chances for success.

DSNY is not in that group. DSNY is profitable and growing earnings.

I am puzzled that you raise this issue on this board. Every stock is manipulated in some respect or another. It is buyer beware - even when you buy NFLX or AAPL. The shorts battle with the longs over the short term movement of every stock.

Agree with Bluesky...we are at the bottom here. Worst case is that G2 does not deliver and not get adopted. But play MPE and watermarking are still pretty lucrative business for DSNY. Remember that Steve already got an offer buyout for the watermarking business which he put down. So there's no worries here, we might have a little gray hair along the way from waiting, but I'm hoping just like everyone that it will be soon!

Still profitable despite big R&D Expenses.

Since Q4 is the weakest sales quarter, the roughly flat revenues isn't unexpected.

I want to see the quarter numbers broken out. Those are the only comparable quarters that show the Play MPE v4 vs v5 operations.

This should be a yellow sticky.
This is a great summary on Destiny's disruptive G2 platform. (from their 10K)

Clipstream® Advantages

A Clipstream® powered website does not require that its visitors download and install player software. Clipstream® just plays. Other solutions require intrusive codecs and new versions of their player in the background.

As Clipstream® is playerless, management estimates that at least 10% more visitors see the rich media content

Clipstream® playback takes minimal CPU and memory resources, so the viewer's computer is free for other tasks. This means that many Clipstream® objects can appear on the same page. Other solutions often restrict to one piece of content per page.

The Clipstream® solution is less intrusive and, as a result, safer for users. Alternative solutions control a user’s device and can be used by malicious sites to install malware. Clipstream® content will never crash or compromise your machine.

Clipstream® content is uploaded to any brand of web server and just works. Alternative solutions require that you purchase, install and configure streaming server systems, running on dedicated hardware.

Clipstream® plays on any JavaScript and HTML 5 enabled device, so playback is not restricted to computers. This cross platform approach means the same object will work for any browser on any brand of computer or device at any bitrate. (An autodetect procedure automatically delivers the highest possible stream quality).

Because there is no player, Clipstream® encoded media never becomes obsolete and never has to be re- encoded. Content encoded in Clipstream® ten years ago still plays today. Other solutions launch new player software without backwards compatibility.

Clipstream® media will automatically cache because it is an ordinary web component, just like a graphic or a block of text. This means that Clipstream will save up to 90% on bandwidth cost (over 90% for ads), while providing much more reliable playback This standards based approach means that there is no limit to simultaneous streams.

Clipstream® components can be uploaded to the cloud for third party hosting. Player solutions require complicated server farms to handle more than a few thousand simultaneous visitors.

Clipstream® objects can be embedded into databases for long terms storage and easy context sensitive retrieval. Every aspect of the Clipstream® engine can be accessed by web authoring tools to create a customized look and feel

Dozens of parameters provide functionality not available from any other streaming solution. For example, Clipstream® provides the only technology available to link every pixel or group of pixels in a banner to a different audio stream. This technology can be used for audio navigation of a website or to provide ads that do not require the visitor to leave the host site to listen to an ad.

Steve- " We've been holding customers back while we've been getting ready. They have been coming to us."

I like the Direct Customer Promotional Sample program.

Every music artist website will want to offer the same freebies that other music artists offer. The sample that they give out is a PlayMPE encoded file that will only play until the artists album is released.

This is a new program that I have not heard before. This is a very creative solution that uses PlayMPE secure features and Destiny patents.

902 DoughDiligence
Yes. Steve said that they have watermark business opportunities. However, their current staff is fairly full up with PlayMPE and Clipstream G2 projects in the current year.

They are talking to a couple of potential partners about taking on the watermark licensing opportunities. No company names were mentioned.

Congrats DSNY investors.

A little over a year ago, a tiny nanocap company announced technology that would disrupt the online video industry.

Last night, their tipping point occurred, when they showed it to the public.

926 Vangorilla
Enterprise software is VERY profitable and long lasting.

Once a company or industry adopts a certain platform and makes it a standard, it's very difficult for the industry to change to another format.

Because G2 is enterprise software, DSNY can sell (provide the application) to all of the players in the industry without having to "manufacture" anything. The costs have already been incurred abd the margins are very lucrative.

934 DoughDiligence
vl39, I think the algorithm for speed favors DSNY right now.

My connection speeds mostly seem to report Bad connection, so I see a low resolution video. DSNY may have set their program to favor low grade conditions over Hi-Def videos so they do not overwhelm their servers for the early demonstrations.
