Naked shorting..
#1

Jonathan Feldman, who was accused by the SEC of trading billions of dollars of stock and options in ways that misled other investors, was found by the judge to have engaged in a practice regulators say has grown more prevalent in recent years: "naked short selling."

The decision makes it more likely the SEC will proceed with other enforcement cases involving similar activity, say people familiar with the SEC's thinking.

You have a link for that? Smile

Anyway, that it happens is fairly certain, how widespread it is is anybody's guess, really. IOC has a history of naked shorting, that's not deniable, the shares were years on the RegSHO list and undelivered shares reached a whopping 6M in June 2008. That was no simple defunct settlement system error.

If I remember correctly, bonk said it was down to "only" an AVERAGE of about 70,000 shares PER DAY, with a lot of that probably being related to market making, etc.  AVERAGE PER DAY?!  Sounds like a lot to me.  IMO there should be almost NONE.
