While I took my original post down yesterday regarding hearing that there were reports O'Neil was arrested, it still appears he was not, someone us trying to say he was. Post Courier had an article titled "Police mum on O'Niel's arrest". Below is a quote I read. Makes me wonder if TonkaToy's comment about something going to happen this weekend was referring to knowledge about thus attempt.

"POLICE COMMISSIONER RESPONDS TO REPORTS ON PM'S ARREST
Police Commissioner, Tom Kulunga, is concerned about the media spreading false rumours.
In a statement this afternoon, Commissioner Kulunga referred to an online news story by the Post Courier with the headline “Police mum on O’Neill’s arrest”, saying he was concerned that particular news organizations were creating news, rather than reporting it.
Commissioner Kulunga said the report was factually incorrect; that it was normal protocol for departmental heads to see off and receive the prime minister when he goes on international travel; and that there was no private meeting with the PM, as reported in the web news story.
He called on the media organisation to explain itself.
That story and more at 6pm, on EMTV News tonight..."

Police Mum On O’Neill’s Arrest Prime Minister Peter O’Neill was not arrested when he arrived from China last night. Reports of his arrest started hitting the airwaves this morning. Top Cop Toami Kulunga and Andy Bawa were all at the airport tonight when PM touched down at Jacksons at 9pm sharp. Task Force Sweep boss Sam Koim was also there to meet Mr O’Neill and his delegation. Jacksons Airport was packed with more than eight security personnel’s specifically police and his line of supporters, the Ministers and MP’s. Security was tight at airport, access was blocked off and it was close-knit operation where PM’s security was guaranteed. Sam Koim, boss of Task Force Sweep said it was a very sensitive issue and he could not confirm or deny the arrest. Kulunga also refused to comment including Andy Bawa. PM flew to China on Wednesday evening, the same time Post-Courier was alerted of the instruments to arrest him by security forces and those from the Courts. Prime Minister refused to take in questions tonight as he was whisked right through to his awaiting vehicle. PM’s arrival was scheduled as 10am today but cancelled. PM’s Media later advised he would get into Port Moresby as 12am but did not as he arrived at 9pm. As of 11pm Prime Minister was still in a meeting with Sam Koim, Kulunga Bawa and other officials at a private residence. It is not clear at this stage what charges he faces and by midnight talks were still being carried out. Mr O’Neill is facing defensive issues but Police last night were tight-lipped about the whole issues. http://www.postcourier.com.pg/misc/BreakingStories.htm

This is what I found:
Papua New Guinea's Opposition Leader Belden Namah has lodged a formal complaint against the Prime Minister Peter O'Neill with the police. PNG Opposition increases the pressure on Peter O'Neill (Credit: ABC) The move is the latest in a string of attacks Mr Namah has fired at Prime Minister O'Neill in an attempt to link him to an alleged illegal $30-millon government payment to law firm Paul Paraka lawyers. A bit more here
Friday 08th November 2013 Namah dissapointed with Kulunga By Gloria Bauai UPNG journalism student Opposition Leader Belden Namah is disappointed with a response from the Police Commissioner’s office to his complaint and is calling for the commissioner’s immediate resignation. Mr Namah said the commissioner had not taken responsibility and had decided to pass the buck on investigating the allegations of illegal money use by the Prime Minister and two other politicians. He said this after the commissioner decided that it was in the best interest of all parties concerned for the investigation to be handled by the Task Force Sweep Team. Mr Namah said the police force is a State service mandated by the constitution to undertake functions independently without fear or favour and the suggestion by the commissioner was absolutely unacceptable and regrettable. “The police force is under oath to perform its function without fear or favour, and therefore must take its responsibilities seriously in protecting the rights of citizens of this country,” said Mr Namah. Police Commissioner Tom Kulunga has confirmed the official complaint lodged by Mr Namah and states that the matter is already being investigated by the Task Force Sweep Team. “In fact the investigations are at an advanced stage and people have been interviewed,” Mr Kulunga said in a statement earlier this week. “Furthermore, the Prime Minister is also the acting Minister for Police and it is therefore in the best interest of all parties concerned that the matter is handled by the Task Force Sweep Team to its final conclusion to avoid any suggestion of bias.” Mr Kulunga said Mr Namah’s documents have already been made available to the chairman of the Task Force Sweep Team, Sam Koim, with a copy of the brief and it would be illogical and counter-productive to instigate another investigation. However, Mr Namah said the letter of response by the Commissioner did not show an cccurrence book (OB) number that recorded the complaint and the direction issued to investigate the complaint. “It is the first time in history an Opposition Leader has given an official complaint with evidence to police,” said Mr Namah. “Therefore, it is expected when there is evidence presented, an arrest must be made with substantive evidence provided.”

This country can't make it more than a few months without some sort of government turmoil...and I don't see that changing anytime soon. All the more reason to sell the company to the highest bidder now.

Png is not near the worst or most unstable company of the oil producing nations of the third world. This is part of doing business in these countries and all the sm know this and deal with it.
Cac your post makes no logical sense. Sell the company because of political turmoil ? You own stock in a png based company. Would you like a a penny on the dollar for what it's worth? Xom doesn't seem to be too worried with a 19 billion dollar project. Live with it or sell your shares.

I also dispute your assumption that selling would require IOC to accept "pennys on the dollar".
