EAST Sepik has become the first province to receive a state-of-the-art service station from InterOil Products Ltd under a partnership arrangement with a local company Hungo Ltd.
The brand new facility, recently completed by InterOil at the cost of K5 million, was opened last Wednesday in Wewak.
Hungo managing director Kevin Isifu thanked InterOil for partnering with him in building the country’s first modernised service station equipped with the latest computer technology aimed at improving transparency, efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Isifu assured InterOil that its decision to invest in the province was no mistake as major developments, including Frieda mine, would certainly pay off for the commitment.
The new service station was an improvement from a simple trade store and four fuel browsers to a very-spacious and modern service station with 18 pumps and a shop.
The facility is owned by InterOil but will be operated by Hungo for 20 years before it takes over 100% of the business
InterOil president Bill Jasper said the service station was an investment that would benefit everyone in East Sepik.
InterOil general manager Peter Diezemann said with the economy booming in all parts of the country, they were proud to have established the best service station in Wewak."
