Today marks a very exciting beginning for NQ Mobile. Sprint will be utilizing the NQ Live platform as their "Sprint Live" experience on the home screen on all new Android devices in the US. As I wrote about from CES last week, the home screen real estate on mobile devices is going to be a major focus area for carriers, content owners, third party developers, brands and consumers. NQ Live is positioning to become the platform of choice for enabling this valuable real estate to be so much more interactive and engaging for all these partners.
When we formally announced the NQ Live product back in October, we mentioned how we were launching not just "running" out of the gate, but "sprinting!" Combined with our already broad acquisition channels in China and now today's partnership with Sprint marks the beginning of what is becoming the most exciting product and platform initiative in NQ's history.
A couple of points of background related to the announcement today with Sprint:
*This will be rolled out on all new Android devices at Sprint in mid-2014.
*In addition to each new Android device, Sprint Live will be compatible with existing Sprint ID-based devices in the field.
*NQ Live content will be available from the Sprint Live Store to allow users to acquire additional NQ Live content.
*Sprint will manage and launch its own developers outreach program and will work with NQ Live developers to help build the ecosystems of content and third party app developers.
*An NQ Live SDK for developers will be announced in the 2nd quarter of this year.
*NQ's business model is to share in revenue generated from traffic that is created for developers through the NQ Live platform. The revenue generation will come from methods like premium content sales, new user acquisition referral fees, mobile advertising, traffic redirect CPM/CPA, brand marketing offers, among others.
*NQ Mobile Inc. and its technologies/products continue to garner support and validation from the most selective and diligent tier 1 partners globally now including Sprint.
