The purpose of this poll is to see what members believe is the price that an Interoil takeover could succeed in Interoil no longer being independent. Perhaps this question is the same as, "At what price do you think the major shareholders of Interoil would elect to sell their stock?" Remember, this is not about your preference, but simply the price that would succeed, meaning the majority of shareholders elect to sell their shares. Please vote based on the right price NOW and not in two months or whenever, and not after whatever events you expect to transpire in the future transpire. We can do polls in the future to assess the opinions at that time. However, feel free to comment along those lines. Thanks.

Ask Chandler to vote and you will have your answer.

Chandler bought in the $90 no cheap buyout

My Vote was based on what I think the minimum price would be that a majority of shareholders would accept, not what the resource is ultimately worth. That also assumes it happens in 1Q14. Time is a factor and will be heavily influenced by the first couple of well results. Once (and if) the first REAL takeout bid is tendered, we'll find out what it is truly "worth". There will be no way to negatively spin a huge premium. Keep the faith...and realistic expectations.

I notice that Movieguy didn't vote in his own poll.
I didn't either because it is a fruitless effort as we have already experienced many times in the past. Our time would be better spent discussing facts and the technical details of IOC and the deal as we think we know it, IMHO. Wishing and hoping for a knight on a white horse bearing treasures does not make for realistic expectations. We have been there and done that. Tis time to reset expectations. My expectations are that we have seen the bottom and will continue to recover. The recovery in pps will require good PR on a regular basis as there are things to report. There are many positive events in IOC's future including reports on the drilling, some of which I expect to be quite positive. If you turn the IOC chart upside down, you will see that we had a significant Parabolic Move in early December 2013. Parabolic Moves eventually blow themselves out, usually quickly, and I believe IOC's PM has blown itself out. IOC is not the same company now since the deal was made with Total, as has been recently discussed here. It will no longer be the Easy-To-Manipulate-Company it has been in the past, once the unknowns are made known. Those unknowns will be made known in the next year on a fairly regular basis beginning this month and this quarter. As the unknowns become known, more buyers will enter IOC and build their positions. Ready buyers will make it much more difficult to easily drive the pps down. I am adding to my positions since the big blow out and will continue to add at these attractive prices. Let's try not to build expectations beyond what is realistic now that we have a mostly known deal to build upon.

Kommon, I was the first to vote in the poll and voted in the $125 - 150 response. Perhaps you should be more diligent in what you "notice."
With the huge amount of takeover talk both in the media and on this board, from numerous people on both sides of the bull/bear spectrum, I thought it would be useful for SHU to learn what its knowledgeable members think is the minimum price for such a takeover bid to succeed. It may or may not happen, but certainly seems a very reasonable possibility. This seems like useful information for anyone with a position, or contemplating a change in position, with regard to the stock would like to have. Based on the considerable response to the poll, it seems that many agree. I thank those who voted (and will vote) for sharing their opinions. With 40 votes in = Arbitrarily assigning a value of 250 to those who voted "above 200," and using the midpoint for all the other ranges, we get: Mean = $150 Median = $138 Mode = $138 If one believes in the wisdom of crowds (or at least this crowd), then Interoil could be had for about $7.5 billion, when all is said and done.

Thanks Movieguy. Someone get Chandler and Total/Woodside on the phone and let's make a deal!

Drill! Until we have a good handle on just what our resources are. Then make an informed decision on where to go from there.

I see your point but the possibility exists that Hessions hyperbole, however educated, falls short. With the information available at the time here is to the best buyout possible before recertification or after!
