PETROLEUM and Energy Minister Nixon Duban has given the people of Gulf one month to come up with their development proposals for the Papua LNG project.
He said this during a meeting in Port Moresby last Sunday with Gulf leaders, in which technical presentations were made to the Government by a team from the provincial government.
Duban told Gulf Governor Havila Kavo that he was giving him a month to come up with interventions and inputs. He said Kikori MP Mark Maipakai, Kerema MP Richard Mendani and other stakeholders would also have the chance to make their input.
“You have sufficient time, there’s no need to rush.”
“We are not in the final investment decision stage. We are way early to correct those discrepancies.
“Let me say again: the announcement by Total is a wake-up call for all of us.
We have not got the FID (ahead of us). Let’s work together. You have my support to continuously give your views.”
Duban appointed Peter Koim to be the coordinator of the exercise.
