So has the meeting adjourned? And when would we hear of the consensus?

Summation:

Summary report 27 June – 1 July 2022 (iisd.org)
Just realized that this was last year's summation.

Well TMC rose 20% today. Wonder if folks no something about the ISA meeting?

My brokerage account show the last trade of NUSMF at $1.01....if only it were true.

Well, I think its safe to say the ISA didn't finalize any significant exploitation mining code. Meetings are ongoing this month.
From what I understand any moratorium or motion to block an application would require a 2/3 majority to pass.

ISA has opened a new position which seems to align with accepting applications.

TMC has said it will move forward with there application when meetings adjourn.

If I was DSMF and I wanted to become the first commercial deep sea mining operation in the world and I wanted to raise money to maintain
the operation, I would buy NUMSF and start trading. Turn a few pennies into a few million.

...what he said

RE: Hopeful Thread - LongNautilus - 07-29-2023

Been trying to read as much as possible about the International Seabed meetings this month. I'm obviously no expert: it looks like the mining code will not be ready or brought to a vote by the ISA Council, but I'm not sure if that even matters.

As a result of the 2 Year Rule triggered by Nauru on July 9, 2021 they (Nauru & TMC) can now proceed with their mining application regardless of passage or not. Because the ISA Council would need a unanimous 67 country approval to pass anything (highly unlikely ever) the 2 Year Rule was created as a way to continue progress without universal agreement with the mining rules as they are currently.

This article from Science summed it up best for me:

"A company spokesperson told Science that it would rather submit its application once the regulations are put into place. But if it or others lose patience with ISA, Gianni says they could find ways to advance an application because of the way voting works. When the members of the Council can’t unanimously agree on the fate of an application, the decision goes to subgroups, where just a few members can force its approval. Nauru is on the Council, as is Norway, which Gianni says is eager to proceed deep-sea mining. “A handful of countries can basically hold the rest of the organization hostage,” he says."

It's really confusing and different articles say different things. I personally think seabed mining can now move forward but I could be wrong. This is literally uncharted waters my friends.

Would love to hear others thoughts on this!

Unfortunately I'm as much in the dark as you are. It's really annoying that we can't get a clear picture about what's going to happen.

RE: Hopeful Thread - LongNautilus - 07-29-2023

I agree Steel - nothing is ever straight forward and it's annoying as sh*t.  I originally thought there was going to be a big announcement that the regulations had passed, but I think seafloor mining is going to move forward now "quietly" via the 2 Year Rule.

Take a look at TMC's press release:

"TMC’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Nauru Ocean Resources Inc. (NORI), reiterated its preference to submit an application for a plan of work for exploitation once these RRPs are in place. However, consistent with NORI’s sponsoring state Nauru's rights under UNCLOS, and as was reaffirmed in Friday’s decision, NORI reserves its right to submit an application for a plan of work in the absence of the adoption of the RRP’s pursuant to Section 1, Paragraph 15 of the Annex to the Agreement."

I still believe that Nautilus and TMC are connected behind the scenes. TMC's only mining sites are the ones it "bought" from Nautilus in 2019. Nautilus controls all the needed patents to mine.  Barron & Heydon founded Nautilus and then founded TMC. Nautilus is also one of the largest shareholders of TMC with 12.5 million shares for f*cksakes!

It makes my blood boil but we have to remain patient. If our instincts have been right it could lead to life changing money and that's what is most important!!!   Best, LN
