Cold stacking deepwater rigs
#1

http://www.worldoil.com/news/2016/9/21/a...-precedent

The above article is well worth reading regarding ultra deepwater drilling rigs being "cold stacked" by TransOcean.  Completely shutting down (i.e,, cold stack) a $500 Mln machine is a very large risk.  Over the next months and years we will hear how this plays out for them.  In the mean time a ton of rigs are still being built.

If this goes bad, then there could be a terrible rig shortage some years down the road.

All the Rig Builders and Rig Providers in Singapore are in deep SCHIST and starting to file for bankrupty.
All the building has stopped and a large number of finished Rigs are sitting idle

YEA! Who pics up the slack?
Our group is more bullish on the oil price outlook in 2017, and as such, we firmly believe investors need to have a position in the
space. Our favorite names include: 1) Strong Buy-rated Halliburton (HAL), given its leverage to the North American pressure
pumping and general land recovery; 2) Strong Buy-rated Patterson-UTI Energy (PTEN) and RPC, Inc. (RES), given their strong asset
bases, conservative balance sheets, and leverage to a U.S. pressure pumping recovery; 3) Strong Buy-rated Hi-Crush Partners
(HCLP), given significant industry leverage to favorable cyclical and structural proppant demand trends; 4) Strong Buy-rated Unit
Corp (UNT), given its favorable valuation; 5) Strong-Buy-rated Superior Energy Services (SPN), given structural cost cuts and
leverage to businesses with widespread industry attrition; 6) Strong Buy-rated Weatherford International (WFT) and Nabors
Industries (NBR), given leverage to commodity price movements; 7) Strong Buy-rated Baker Hughes (BHI), given structural cost
cuts and a strategic focus on long-term returns; and 8) Strong Buy-rated Newpark Resources (NR), which is a differentiated
growth story with limited capital needs.
