Although personally, I'm not particularly sold on wind energy (too few opportunities for improvement, unlike solar for instance, where a veritable Moore's Law has decimated the cost of panels from $25 per watt in the 1980s to $4/watt five years ago to way below $1/watt today), I just stumbled upon a study which is pretty comprehensive, for those interested..
