Update from conference
#1

From How to find big stocks newsletter:

After months of filing patents and beta testing, our nanocap darling Destiny Media Technologies (DSNY) unveiled what we think is technology that will completely change the online video industry. The days of multiple formats and streaming servers will soon be gone.

Tech evangelist Robert Cringely gave his input on Destiny's G2 in a blog post. http://www.cringely.com/tag/destiny-media-technologies/

A couple sentences we thought were of interest along with a couple quotes from CEO Steve Vestergaard:

  • will we ever see another truly ubiquitous web video standard? We already have and it is called ClipStream G2 JavaScript video
  • It’s glitchy, but think of what an achievement this is
  • I think this is a major step, though, toward Internet simplification.

Quotes from Destiny’s CEO in the blog post:

  • "Some of the big guys, including chip manufacturers, see an opportunity to improve our performance and keep the cross platform aspect"

A Midwest Ideas Investor Conference offered up some more nuggets. http://www.wsw.com/webcast/threepa8/dsny/ (replay of DSNY presentation)

Highlights:

  • “our core biz has already funded Clipstream G2” “we expect a significant jump in revenues”
  • “our watermarking technology could be a business in itself”
  • “internet service providers will enjoy big savings, we can save 99% on bandwidth and infrastructure costs”
  • (referring to their old Clipstream product) “150 ad agencies signed up”
  • “Yahoo was a partner”
  • “the Web is running into infrastructure limits”
  • “a customer can do DRM (digital rights management) right off their own server” new products to be launched include Clipstream Cloud ..”a YouTube for business” “we are the only company that has a music player on the iPhone”

Our conclusion is this: if Apple is allowing Destiny's PlayMPE to be used on the iPhone, and they are part of DSNY's music distribution platform, we would find it very hard to believe they (Apple) are not aware of DSNY's recently introduced Clipstream G2, the "playerless" media technology.
