S&P decline to 1448 likely, but IOC could defy the trend - Petrovale - 09-21-2012 http://www.incisivefx.com/index.php/fx-updates/58-s-p-500-set-to-decline-further-43543 InterOil Corporation (USA) (NYSE:IOC) shares are however tipped to advance as long as support at 78.7 remains true. Commenting on their bullish assessment of the stock, Trading Central say: "the RSI is above 50. The MACD is positive and above its signal line. The configuration is positive. Moreover, the stock is above its 20 and 50 day MA (respectively at 81.65 and 81.62)." RE: S&P decline to 1448 likely, but IOC could defy the trend - Palm - 09-21-2012 Agree Petro; as I stated the other day I think this market is overheated and ready for a correction of a "healthy" variety. I am basically cash in my accounts except for my IOC holdings. I think IOC will hold on for a bit, but we really need to hear something substantial; these Platts, and PNG publication stories do nothing other than a quick pop or cause a ValueDroop. Markets as well as IOC need a Viagra injection that's the real deal to keep from having a traditional October dryhole blowback. RE: S&P decline to 1448 likely, but IOC could defy the trend - tarulestheday - 09-21-2012 IMO, it's all about $75 max pain this Friday. The mm has easily wiped out all of the call premium over $80 yet again. This pattern will repeat on a weekly and monthly basis until real news. I have moved all of my IOC holdings to 2014 LEAPS so I really don' t care. RE: S&P decline to 1448 likely, but IOC could defy the trend - ValueSleuth - 09-21-2012 There are many times when IOC experiences a 20% drop from an intraday high to an intraday low in a period of about a week. They are quite harrowing, but provide "opportunities" for the nimble. It seems clear that the recent intraday high at 99 was likely induced by the forces of evil, as is the current weakness, set up by a Blair Price story setting up "disappointment." One of these months, we'll get REAL news, rather than nothing but rumors pulled out of some nether orifices. Technically, we're in a temporary danger zone. In the absence of REAL news, the forces of evil will have a field day. VS RE: S&P decline to 1448 likely, but IOC could defy the trend - kerekesc - 09-21-2012 I think with the EU Central Bank on record a couple of weeks ago tha it would buy all the sovereign debt necessary, the Fed on record a week ago that it would purchase 40 billion a month for as long as it takes, and today that the Central Bank of Japan would increase its current yen bond purchase program from 70 trillion yen to 80 trillion yen, there is a likelyhood that the world stock markets will make significant increases........most likely in the commodities sector. RE: S&P decline to 1448 likely, but IOC could defy the trend - Libtardius Maximus - 09-21-2012 kerekesc, I'm one of the few that believes the market has fully priced in all of worldwide governments actions to prop up the world economy. We're getting very close to an imminent drop while we all wait for IOC's assets to be monetized. I hope there is some giddyup in the management teams saddle. RE: S&P decline to 1448 likely, but IOC could defy the trend - Petrovale - 09-21-2012 Commodities Boom May Have Peaked as Fed Stimulus Fades http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-09-19/fed-stimulus-fading-as-forecasters-say-best-is-over-commodities.html RE: S&P decline to 1448 likely, but IOC could defy the trend - Palm - 09-21-2012
Agree Lib; one of the things I noticed the other day is how much weight Apple has in the markets. Its meteoric rise (which I screwed up on; owned it originally at $28 or so and various times up to $150 or so) has pumped a lot of value into quite a few pockets. Noticed the other day some mutual funds that I had in my 401K account all have it as one of their top 2 holdings and have of course performed very well. Apple makes up about 5% of the S&P value and has been almost the exclusive difference between the performance of S&P and Dow this year. Apple is expected to continue its rise over time, but there is more and more buzz that it is overbought. All it takes is for this to be more widely accepted and a correction in Apple could be a "clue" that sets the markets into correction mode; not a crash, but healthy correction. This chart shows the difference in the Dow and S&P this year and much of it is attributed to Apple:
I think the FED and the world banks are saying "Cheap Money! Use it to buy equities." And we've gotten a bit of air in the markets. Watch Apple; the new iPhone sales are priced in, so it may be ready for a correction. RE: S&P decline to 1448 likely, but IOC could defy the trend - jft310 - 09-21-2012 Using one historical measure The Presidential Cycle the markets should act well Stock Charts sees S&P 1550 and see a weak IOC .Lots of ways to look at the markets. |
