Anyone remember how far IOC drilled horizontally at ANT-2 with their current Rig (Rig #2 as they call it) ?

An advantage of a big powerful rig in PNG is that it would facilitate pad drilling. Like Pet said, it's a matter of "extended reach", how big an area we could reach out to, drilling directionally, and cover from one pad. It's not so much a matter of drilling long horizontal production legs.
There will be tradeoffs between the costs of bringing in a big powerful rig to cover the maximum area from a single pad and the costs of going with a lesser rig, necessitating building more pads in PNG's difficult terrain.

I wonder whether there is a significant limited advantage to HDD where you have hydrocarbon columns that themselves are a couple thousand feet thick. No doubt in my mind HDD is terrific for thin seams of hydrocarbons, but where does the tradeoff occur? Lots of variables, not the least of which simply being just how much gas can one six or eight inch diameter pipe flow? If I were to guess, we can pad drill to the maximum effective distances in the E/A formation with our existing equipment as demonstrated at Antelope 2. Ditto with 3Tops.
How many wells per pad? Don't have any idea.

Talk of 7 wells at Triceratops.
