NEWS out today:
Play MPE® Secure Digital Media Distribution System
Web Portal Expanded to Support All Browsers on All Devices
Vancouver, BC – April 18, 2013 – Destiny Media Technologies (TSXV: DSY) (OTCQX: DSNY) is pleased to announce a major upgrade to both the software and hardware infrastructure that powers the Play MPE® Direct-to-Web portal (http://goplay.plaympe.com). This site is used by tens of thousands of music industry professionals to access pre-release music and videos distributed through the Play MPE® system.
In the past, industry recipients could access pre-release content that was solicited to them either through proprietary player software (Mac, PC and iPhone) or through Java enabled web browsers. This upgrade expands access to include both HTML 5 and legacy browsers on all modern computers, smart phones, tablets and other devices. Access to download or stream is instant and doesn't require plug-in software.
Despite anticipated growth in users and activity, Play MPE® customers will continue to enjoy uninterrupted performance, even during large bursts of simultaneous access because of the hardware and infrastructure upgrades.
Content is protected by Destiny's proprietary security and watermarking solutions. Both streams and downloads are marked with the recipient's identity and other forensic details, so they can be held accountable in the case the music is distributed illegally. A watermark detection service is directly available to our top clients and IFPI (http://ifpi.org) for real-time file checking.
Although today's Play MPE® Direct-to-Web upgrade immediately provides support for access through smart phone and tablet browsers, Destiny is developing a series of new Play MPE® apps, specifically designed for various devices. This includes an update to the Play MPE® iPhone app as well as new apps for Android phones, iPad, Blackberry phones, and Android tablets, all expected to be launched before the end of the 4th quarter.

"Not gonna happen - they have to finish the re-purchase at $1 or under before any big announcement will be made."
Another one of your statements that has no basis in fact or logic. It is actually contrary to the facts of what has happened regarding repurchases so far.
It is obvious that they announced the repurchase primarily to stem the price drop from $1 to .60. They have shown very little interest in actually buying shares, especially with a cost of over .65.
As of the last earnings report Destiny had repurchased 157,000 at an average of .64.
The repurchase announcement accomplished its purpose. They certainly are not going to hold up on making big deals or big announcements in order to buy shares they don't seem to want to buy.

"How can you possibly back up the last sentence in your statement?"
By watching level II action on DSNY it was easy to tell when Destiny was making bids for shares. They were using UBSS and usually the bids were for 100,000 shares or more. Bids like that are generally not made when someone is actually interested in purchasing shares, but to encourage smaller buyers to put higher bids in thus supporting the price.
So from day one of the repurchase announcement, it was evident that the main purpose was just to support the price rather than to accumulate shares. Since the price went over.70 there has rarely been an obvious bid from Destiny for any shares.
You really need to get over the problem you have with self esteem. When someone challenges what you say you needn't always take it as an attack on you personally. It is not. In fact it is your responses to people who question what you say that are more of a personal attacking nature. When you post something that I believe is wrong and unfounded I will challenge it. You have a perfect right to disagree with what I present, but try to deal with that rather than say I am demeaning & insulting and that I think I know everything.

For New Investors, who haven't seen this last year's video interview with Steve. Very impressive even then, much more impressive now, when most of the 'future products' are now a reality.

A duopoly is when 2 entities control a market or industry.
DSNY is primed to be a monopoly for 2 markets...
But Wait There's More!
Do you know the THIRD market they can be a monopoly in????
DSNY has not discussed it much but a commercial G2 product makes them the player overnight.
Subscribers find out this month.

Joined the XXII entourage today after reading your SA write up. Great cross marketing with DSNY. Maybe you could introduce shareholdersunite to XXII. Never owned two penny stocks before. Never smoked either. Whole new world. Thank you.
If anyone interested in my "dollar stocks" they include OSIR, IOC and NQ in that order of involvement.

vangorilla,
Out of DSNY, XXII, VSUL, BKYI, how would you rank them as most likely to succeed?

Vp9 is replacing vp8 and h265 is replacing h264. You have to convert into each one of these standards to reach everyone because different browsers use different formats. Every year there are more and more formats to support and they aren't backwards compatible.
Unless you use single Clipstream format which plays everywhere.
By the way, vp8 and vp9 are usually called webm.

Youtube converts into a bunch of formats behind the scenes at great cost.

Video technology
Playback
Viewing YouTube videos on a personal computer requires the Adobe Flash Player plug-in to be installed on the browser. The Adobe Flash Player plug-in is one of the most common pieces of software installed on personal computers and accounts for almost 75% of online video material.[46]
In January 2010, YouTube launched an experimental version of the site that uses the built-in multimedia capabilities of web browsers supporting the HTML5 standard.[47] This allows videos to be viewed without requiring Adobe Flash Player or any other plug-in to be installed.[48][49] The YouTube site has a page that allows supported browsers to opt in to the HTML5 trial. Only browsers that support HTML5 Video using the H.264 or WebM formats can play the videos, and not all videos on the site are available.[50][51]
Uploading
Some smartphones are capable of accessing YouTube videos, dependent on the provider and the data plan. YouTube Mobile was launched in June 2007, using RTSP streaming for the video.[83] Not all of YouTube's videos are available on the mobile version of the site.[84]
Since June 2007, YouTube's videos have been available for viewing on a range of Apple products. This required YouTube's content to be transcoded into Apple's preferred video standard, H.264, a process that took several months. YouTube videos can be viewed on devices including Apple TV, iPod Touch and the iPhone.[85] In July 2010, the mobile version of the site was relaunched based on HTML5, avoiding the need to use Adobe Flash Player and optimized for use with touch screen controls.[86] The mobile version is also available as an app for the Android platform.[87][88] In September 2012, YouTube launched its first app for the iPhone, following the decision to drop YouTube as one of the preloaded apps in the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 operating system.[89]

Clipstream G2 is more than just eliminating transcoding.
1. eliminates transcoding
2. no plug in/updates are ever required
3. digital rights mgmt with every video
4. video can be locked to play on a specific device
5. a G2 formatted will live on forever.. (think RealPlayer)

Destiny is creating a competitor to WebM, H-265, and H-264. Those technologies have years of development into them from multiple companies.
Destiny is using technology that they developed in their video game software in the 90s as well as their Clipstream G1 technologies.
Yes, it is quite a puzzle that they have tried to solve. The question is how will they do against the current competitors as well as the future versions of Web-M and H-265.

I don't think any of those formats offer what DSNY with G2 can offer, including watermarking security, cross platform and no plug ins all together. Besides my concerns about G2's clarity on Safari browser, and now that flash is out of the way, I think its adoption is a no brainer, but who am I to say, wish I have a crystal ball. What I would be afraid of if Adobe comes out of something similar to G2 before it officially gets out there, then I'd probably run out the other way...now the question is can Adobe change their mind about getting out of the mobile arena? And can they brew up something similar to G2?

Netflix shift towards HTML5 for web-based video
Netflix has unveiled the first details of a long-term strategy to shift towards using HTML5 for its web-based video playback.
"Netflix, which owns about one third of the market for prime-time Web streaming video, far ahead of competitors like Amazon Prime and Hulu, currently uses Microsoft’s Silverlight plugin for video playback. That’s in contrast to many other video services, which use Adobe Flash, Apple Quicktime, or other services to play video within their web pages. However, Microsoft has announced plans to wind down Silverlight by 2021. That means Netflix — and anyone else relying on Silverlight — has eight years to find an alternative."
"And fortunately for Netflix, HTML5-based solutions that meet Netflix’s requirements are in the pipeline. Chief among those requirements are the need for content encryption and copy restriction (aka digital rights management, or DRM), “a requirement for any premium subscription video service,” the Netflix blog post drily notes. The W3C’s Encrypted Media Extensions specification provides just that support, Netflix says. In addition, the Web Cryptography API (also from the W3C) gives Netflix programming tools for encrypting and decrypting data, and for digitally signing content and verifying customers’ identities, which are also needed for the delivery of DRM-restricted video."
