Sam,
You raise some stellar points about expectations being reset yet I would like to point out that there may be something missing in your analysis. While there can be no debate on a botched and rushed cc by Hession that led to the selloff one can easily conclude that this announcement was a forced issue by a leak. There can be no way that anyone here can convince me that Hession was prepared for what came his way. How could he be when he was in the air when news was breaking forcing the halt and the ensuing fiasco. There are many here that have heard as I have the announcement came early as a result of PNG government wanting to take credit for the deal as their own, a spectacular moment for the country. Further, if you read the three analysts reports after said call you will note confusion which does not jive with the announcement of a transformational deal 3 years in the making. I refuse to give management a pass for this since they owe shareholders so much more than what we got. I expect this to be corrected in the near term, as I am sure our short side does as well.
