Rumor Shell made offer to buy Interoil at $97 share

I would never be surprised at an offer. I've been expecting an offer for several years. I question why it is posted frankly. Its also vague. Was the "offer" made recently or years ago? Again, this is why this post is completely pointless. Rumor doesnt help anyone unless you are able to substantiate it which the author clearly cannot or will not do. Therefore, he should keep it in his pocket. Its reckless.

Like I said, let everyone arrive at their own conclusion. You clearly think it's not worthwhile but I suspect a few others would nevertheless like to hear it.

He did say:
- it's a rumor
- it's not confirmed by another source.

The old SHU site also sometimes posted stuff like this, but with these caveats (or sometimes other confirmation came, sometimes the rumors panned out, more often they didn't, but this is just from memory).

Bernstein research has names of possible bidders and thinks its likely we do get an offer. It should not be surprising to anyone who read the report that their is chatter in the market. There has been chatter in the past. Until we get a news release from the buyer or seller then the chatter is but rumor. That's why I used the word rumor and why there is no verification. Expect more chatter based on the Bernstein report. In my honest opinion I do not think an offer would be seriously considered until we have drilled more wells. Can't evaluate the true value without more information.
Is the bid high or low vs true value. We wait .

JFT .... you equate "chatter" to "rumor" There are a few other words that also can be synonymous to "chatter" such as these:

blather; chitchat; pleasantry; babble; beauty-parlor chitchat; blabber; casual conversation; gab; gossip; idle chat; idle talk; jabber; light talk; polite remark; prattle; table talk; trivial conversation; yakking

To me, chatter about Shell getting ready to publicly offer a mere $97 per share to acquire all of IOC equates to "DRIVEL"

Try this latest chatter ... IOC and OSH will announce a merger on Sunday night. The new company will be called InterOilSearch (IOS). The new company will control the majority of gas on PNG. IOS will refuse to sell any more gas to XOM; instead they will develop their own LNG projects via a fleet of FLNG's in the Gulf.

Sorry Stavros, but that will never come to pass. I talked to some of my OSH friends and they said the OSH share holders would never accept it unless the name was changed to OilInterSearch (OIS).

We the OSH share holders are a jealous bunch and demand the "O" to be placed first.
