I am not making excuses - only explanations.
Look at the probable facts.
If they put the videos on their own server farm, they can could overload their server farm which may also host PlayMPE services.
Or,
they can put their videos on another server farm and pay for that service.
DSNY's video competitors want Destiny's solution to under perform. Their competitors could be overloading the servers with automated programs to play the videos repeatedly.
I can't explain the current speed analysis unless I compare it to other systems. I can usually view High-Definition videos on other systems pretty well. However, the server farms that host these videos may be very large.
The current server limits or speed limits on these videos does not both me right now. The potential users of the Clipstream G2 system will have their own server farms.
If you do not like this company - please sell your stock. There are quite a few buyers who will buy your shares.

Destiny Media Announces Commercial Prototype for Disruptive Streaming Video Technology
Canada NewsWire
VANCOUVER, Dec. 3, 2012
Secure Streaming Video Format Plays on Computers, Smart Phones, Tablets, Internet TV's and E-book Readers Without Player Plug-ins, Transcoding or Content Delivery Networks
VANCOUVER, Dec. 3, 2012 /CNW/ - Destiny Media Technologies (TSXV: DSY) (OTCQX: DSNY) is pleased to announce that it has successfully expanded the prototype announced August 22nd to include functionality and features required for full commercialization. Demo videos at http://www.clipstream.com showcase support for full screen HD on broadband, feature length movies, instant access to any point chosen from thumbnail scenes displayed above the seek bar and automatic adjustment of quality to support a wide variety of environments.
The solution is much simpler than alternatives which require proprietary streaming servers and plug-ins. Once run through Destiny's encoder software, the video is just dropped into any web page server and it will play back natively on 100% of HTML 5 compliant browsers.
The industry is searching for a new video standard, but none are widely adopted. Adobe Flash is being phased out on smart phones and none of the new HTML 5 video tag formats (which include H.264, WebM and Ogg Theora among others) have more than 56% support, according to Statcounter Globalstats October 2012 data.
The industry is spending $3 billion annually on content delivery networks for hosting video and video usage is growing 48% per year and currently represents more than 50% of all data transferred on the internet. Clipstream® allows publishers to host their content directly on their own web servers rather than outsourcing, because streams are recycled through HTTP caching which can reduce loads by 99% for popular content.
It is estimated that by 2014, the industry will spend $1.6 billion on transcoding. Because Clipstream® plays on all modern browsers, users can create a single video format rather than three or more, reaching their entire audience without any transcoding at all.
HTML 5 video tag formats are unprotected and videos can easily be copied and shared. Clipstream® encoded videos can be watermarked and locked to only play from authorized source websites or to authorized viewer computers.
Because there are no plug-ins for users to maintain or upgrade, content owners will be able to reach their entire audience. It is estimated that 10-15% of users are unable to see player based video because of misconfigured or missing plug-in software.
With other solutions, videos become obsolete over time, as new formats replace old ones. The H.265 format, due out in January 2013, won't be compatible with any existing web browser and is intended to phase out old videos encoded in H.264. By contrast, Clipstream® encoded videos will have extreme longevity as all future web browsers will be required to be backwards compatible with the technologies behind it.
Clipstream® is protected by seven pending US patents claiming priority to August 2011 and international PCT filings.

Does anyone know the status of the stock buyback? I did not hear it mentioned on the most recent conference call nor did I see it in the most current 10-Q expect for this small blurb "During the nine months ended May 31, 2012, the Company cancelled 124,930 shares which were repurchased during the last quarter of fiscal year of 2011."

What is difference between ClipStream and videojs.com - an open source HTML5 video library?
Both require HTML5. Does DSNY really have special sauce here?
971 DoughDiligence
The videojs solution was authored by Zencoder. Zencoder was purchased by Brightcove to be a video encoding service.
The open source code may be free, but this is not a free cost service for everyone creating videos and streaming videos.
http://zencoder.com/pricing/
This may be a competitor to Clipstream G2. DSNY has more control over their solution to tailor it to commercial markets that an open source solution can't do.
Destiny security patents will also provide Destiny an advantage. Since the seven patents filed this year, we do not know how those patents further protect Destiny.
975 DoughDiligence
Brightcove seems like a competitor at the moment since they seem to broadcast the same claims as Destiny.
I think they bought Zencoder to make sure they control the low end of the market as well as up-sell those customers. Oracle did the same thing with the MySQL database company.
Since Brightcove is a public company (BCOV) with a nearly $10 stock price, we can compare their fundamentals with Destiny pretty easily. Both companies are debt-free.
I think Destiny is a threat to Brightcove, so I do not see them willingly using Clipstream as an encoder system. If Clipstream splits the javascript video market with Brightcove, Destiny investors will be very happy.

ANYDAYNOW, This agreement was in pre-Flash days.
When Adobe released FLASH and Youtube created web videos, the Clipstream G1 product suffered. You are holding Destiny accountable for 7 year old agreements as evidence of poor management despite the 2008 market collapse with the downfall of Lehman Brothers (a 100 year old company) and others.
Destiny is thriving pretty well due to their sound management against Adobe and other music competitors.

Here's what needs to happen.
In order to validate this technology, one of two things needs to happen:
1. An institution(s) needs to step up and become a buyer. Any short term selling would be absorbed by investors looking to acquire sizable positions. I'm having a hard time believing this isn't that massive short seller trying to scare investors one last time.
2. DSNY needs to generate and announce their first dollar generated from G2. Investors need to see that somebody sees the benefit with this technology and is willing to pay for it.
The one nugget Steve has said repeatedly though, just one deal with G2 would be greater than entire revenue today.

<Some of you other DSNY investors, explain this phenomena of Great News=Dropping Share price.>
Sometimes the market moves of a stock (short term) are inexplicable. That is especially true with little known, low volume small caps. Yes, it is disheartening when a stock you really like goes down when you would think it should have gone up. But that does happen, and that particular movement should not be the deciding factor for buying, selling or holding.
It's always best to make those decisions based upon RISK vs REWARD.
In the case of DSNY right now it seems like BUYING or HOLDING the shares is a no brainer. Probably the best analysis of the company I have seen recently was by Clarus Securities. They placed a value on just the MPE portion of Destiny's business of .75 to .93 per share. That's giving ABSOLUTELY NO VALUE to anything else including ClipStream. And we all know that if ClipStream is at all reasonably successful, the share price could be 10 times their estimate.
Can the share price go down a few more pennies from here? Of course. But comparing that to the potential gains from here puts DSNY shares FIRMLY in the BUY column. Opportunities for really life changing gains don't come around all that often. When they come along with very little risk it's a real gift from the stock market gods.

I have seen this happen so many times before. A company will announce a new product and investors will expect the share price to reflect immediate sales.
All of us have been anticipating the launch for months. We were waiting for it. So many others just discovered it yesterday.
G2 is enterprise software. In other words it's not a new "app" that is available on iTunes and can be purchased the second it's announced. The sales cycle is longer because companies embed it into their infrastructure. Once they start using it, they dont switch to another platform very easy and the recurring revenue stream only gets bigger.
When you want an opinion on emerging technology, it pays to listen to people that have been around the block a few times. Cringely provided a great summary of what we DSNY investors own.
When it comes to information technology, Bob Cringely knows what he is talking about. Thirty years in and around the PC business has earned him wisdom, if not wealth. It’s not that he is so smart, but his friends are smart. The best and brightest in Silicon Valley talk to him all the time. It’s Cringely’s job to sift through their thoughts for valuable bits to share with you
Here is Bob Cringely discussing G2.
This new patented technology, only 17 years in the making, was just released in beta this morning. Here’s a sample video featuring someone you may know. It’s glitchy, but think of what an achievement this is. And think how much better it will play a month or a year from now.
It’s not perfect, but then beta code never is. I think this is a major step, though, toward Internet simplification
I suggest reading his complete summary again http://www.cringely.com/tag/clipstream-g2/
In my opinion, people selling today do not understand how disruptive G2 really is.
Another thing I have seen countless times too. Typically a stock will do one last shake before it starts its biggest climb. That last shake usually gets rid of the weak hands.

Steve also stated he is receiving great feedback about the demos and had met with another potential Very Large customer yesterday and were very pleased with what was shown to them.
Question: All the videos played on my mac and iphone 5 no problem but when the speed test was conducted and it says the speed is poor or bad, video was not clear. There were a few times I was able to have good speed test and the demo is actually awesome HD quality (impressive)! Steve says there were investors that encountered this bug. I guess this is why the stock is tanking because a lot of investors were expecting a pure video release without anymore bugs. I want to hear from all of you if the demo videos were all HD quality or when you guys say it worked, do you mean it worked and played like a regular video or was it in HD like I tend to get at times???? Feedback pls...
1041 ztockings Dec 5 2012
Sounds like you are getting the same as I'm getting but if you see the HD, it is quite WOW! This is exactly what Steve explained when I asked about this:
"It automatically downgrades the quality to meet the CPU and bandwidth abilities of your device. It appears there could be a bug where we are detecting a lower capability that what is available. The feedback has been great, except concerns from some investors who have encountered this bug."
You are the video guy, maybe you can do a laymans term on this. I'm sure when they are showing the demos to the potential customers, they are showing a pure HD version, don't you agree?

I contacted Destiny regarding G2's ability to play on Internet Explorer browsers. Here's reply:
"The technology requires IE 9 or above as do all the alternatives to Clipstream (HTML 5). The green in this link are the browsers that are supported.
http://caniuse.com/#feat=canvas
About 12% of internet users use IE 8 or below. For those users, we can autodetect and offer them our old Clipstream. We haven't done that in the Showcase. We expect this 12% figured to decline rapidly as Microsoft is going to be aggressively pushing IE 10 as they need their own users to upgrade to HTML 5."
1050 vl39
I looked up internet speeds and VUDU says,
1.0 - 2.3 Mb/s for SD — Standard definition video
2.3 Mb/s - 4.5 Mbs for HD — High definition 720p resolution video
4.5 Mb/s - 9 Mb/s for HDX — Full high definition 1080p resolution video and high definition audio
Over 9 Mb/s for 3-D HD movies
When I test my internet speeds to Vancouver, I get 1.5Mb/s to 2.5Mb/s. I believe this is why Destiny is telling me “ Connection Speed is Bad” and why my videos are not HD quality.

Your questions about this were answered by Steve in the Conference Call.
"We expect to launch no later than spring of next year. And we expect to have revenue before then, but I’m talking about the official launch.
So we’ve kept a really low profile, and intentionally been below the radar. As we’ve worried about copycats we’ve been worried about getting our patents in place. We haven’t wanted to really show our technology to possible customers until it’s ready. But we’re ready to start attracting now. And once this demo comes out, we’re looking towards after Christmas to start making noise and start making waves. I kind of alluded to that on the last conference call.
So in the last year we have started reaching out to investors. We’ve been trying to build our audience. We joined the premier tier of the OTCQX, the top tier, at the beginning of the fiscal year. I’ve personally started presenting at a number of conferences and to a number of institutions, been doing lots of road shows, we’ve been trying to build the audience. I’ve been talking to a number of analysts, probably most of them are on the line right now. And one independent research report from Clarus Securities is already out. I’m expecting more independent analyst coverage in the coming months.
We’re also interviewing potential PR companies. And we expect to get a lot of press coverage, in both the tech press but also the mainstream press when Clipstream G2 finally launches. We’re looking to tell the world how disruptive our technology is.
But that said, we know at the end of the day our management team is judged by one metric and that’s our market cap. And I know a lot of investors have been really frustrated that our strategy of being under the radar and, you know, not bragging about what we have, possibly has our technology currently under-valued. But I have to remind everybody that the market cap’s about double what it was a year ago. We are listening to investor complaints about awareness, and one of my main goals – or not my main goals, but one of my goals next year is to make sure that Destiny and the Play MPE and Clipstream brands are widely known, and we’re not going to be below the radar anymore. So going into the New Year we’re ready to launch commercially and build exposure."

Everyone is waiting for validation. Does G2 solve the 2 billion dollar problems? When will it be ready?
I think you will see the share price firm up as soon as the bugs are fixed on the site. The stock buyback is telling the investing community "we think the share price is cheap here and feel at these levels is represents a great investment".
The real share price appreciation will come when they announce their first revenue generating deal for G2. On the conference call the CEO stated they expected revenues from the current version of G2 (not the server/ecommerce encoder version) by year end.
My guess is that the market research companies that are already using old Clipstream, will be the first clients for G2. It makes sense that they would switch to the new version. Having a non-Java version of Clipstream allows DSNY to attract some other very big market research firms as well.
Take a look at the potential clients. A PR with one of these companies would certainly validate the product.

These are ALL companies that could use DSNY to encode their streaming media content.

This might explain things. This is what I am surmising.
Several weekg ago, (about the same time we saw the selling pressure picked up), The Frankfurt Exchange (Germany) announced that they would be delisting all US Bulletin Board stocks, this includes DSNY. DSNY was never notified that they would be delisted Dec. 15. It was only after the company received emails from their German investors did they discover this.
German investors hold (or did hold) approximately 10% of the shares outstanding (approx 5m shares). Fearing their shares would be delisted, and unable to sell, they have been selling aggressively.
When DSNY contacted the Frankfurt Exchange and explained that DSNY is ALSO traded on the TSX Toronto Exchange (which has higher regulatory filing requirements) they said they would be extending their listing.
As far as I know, the Frankfurt Exchange has not publicly announced that DSNY's listing would be extended.
So if you're a DSNY investor in Germany, you dont expect it to NOT BE DELISTED, and you only have a few days left. Unless the investor was contacted by the Exchange or the company, you would just assume that it would be delisted.
This is the only explanation I can think of why anyone would sell now.
1128 DoughDiligence
'They won't be able to survive on the declining MPE revs alone.'
Change that to - 'RISING MPE revs'.
Didn't you listen to the last conference call? Play MPE has potential to grow over 5 times its current revenue level. I believe Steve stated they have less than 10 percent of the market revenue potential.

Vangorilla: Do you know how Destiny got its shares listed in Germany in the first place? A long time ago, there used to be a problem with shares showing up on the Berlin exchange, but I really don't know the true story on how that could have occurred. I have the same question with Frankfurt.
TIA
1144 DoughDiligence
Isn't the Frankfurt market discussion pointless.
'It is simply true that all OTC Bulletin board shares get delistet in Frankfurt, but we easily are able to sell/buy via OTC market from Germany.......no need to sell except some weak hands. '
Why people badger on over nothing - I do not understand.

Yes, DD, in the long run the Frankfurt thing is pretty meaningless. But in the present, it does have significance because
it might be relevant to the recent dramatic drop in share price. Even if the Germans could continue to trade it on another exchange, the very fact that it was shown as being delisted on the exchange they normally deal with is a negative and could have spurred many to just sell. With a stock as illiquid as DSNY it doesn't take much negativity to cause a drop.
