I will say it.  I've never before had the experience of talking at length with CEOs, CFOs, COOs or reading of hundreds of conversations with PR departments in any of the the stocks I have owned.

I will say it.  Interoil has not "always had a first rate resource".  That resource may have been in the ground for a couple hundred million years, but it was the people who today are being roundly demeaned who figured out it MIGHT be there and actually found it a few years ago, even where other much larger, much more well financed companies failed.

I will say it.  This large 'what have you done for me lately' school of whiners makes me sick, that otherwise smart, informed people can turn on a group of others that have accomplished and brought them so much.  And then you have the Johnny come latelies whose get rich quick expectations have be delayed.

A repeat of the poll of a year or two ago regarding expectations of gas value would be interesting.  I hope IOC management's expectation of what the gas is worth hasn't diminished as much as it seems to have diminished on this board.

I think we can live with that (I certainly can), Art. But I can also live with Put wanting information, I think most of us would want more info, but I tried to explain why it isn't always prudent for the company to comply

You have your opinion Art.  Regarding your points, the first one I have, the second I believe it has been a solid resource and I have always "believed in the assets", regarding the third this is an investment.  The PR department and management have done a crummy job with distribution of information MULTIPLE TIMES (press releases, quarterly phone calls...).  If it can not be stated coherently then don't state it at all is my thought.  Tripping on one's appendage on conference calls like in the past is better to not talk at all.  As for the what have you done for me lately, I have been here since 2010 (not nearly as much as some but still a good amount of time).  What has happened, I have no real appreciation on a stock I believe is worth a boat load but the market has not shown it yet.  Easy for some to be OK with all of this when they are in at $7.  I am not whining, I can sell and move on if I want, but I choose not to.  I believe in the story and I believe MH will make it work.  I am happy he is here.  I am happy I own the stock.  You don't like my posting what I believe is reality, I don't like the self righteous shut up or sell it approach.  As we get closer everyone has a boil on their but (me included).  So I say, get the F-ing thing done.  If you want to chat offline feel free to send a message.  This thread has already gotten to far off track (and I am aware I contributed to that).

There is one other thing I need to say (not to anyone in particular). While I do understand the need to let off some steam at times, keep that to a minimum here because it simply doesn't add anything to the forum, which is meant as an information exchange and platform for people from different backgrounds and different perspectives to give different accounts and analysis.

Thanks in advance.

I have to agree with you, Art, and thank you for stating so well, what I believe.

This is one of those investments that require infinite patience and a lot of faith in the underlying assets.  It is in an industry that requires mega bucks to develop resources and a lot of time, often involving partners, landowners and governments at various levels.

Dealing with politicians and some of the greed and corruption is always at or near the surface and difficult.

All of the above along with the interests of some very unscrupulous shorts that are willing to act criminally, makes for some very high volatility.

I am very appreciative for this forum, SHU, and for the most part, enjoy the posts here and of course, the information is often invaluable and reassuring, especially for one (me) so disconnected from those "in-the-know".  I enjoy the intelligent logical speculations.

The constant expression of disappointment in progress and management along with the accompanying whining serves absolutely no purpose, at least no positive purpose.

It does tend to feed the shorts and let them know how successful they are at driving the fear and uncertainty required for them to manipulate the pps.

While I sometimes agree with the emotions and have similar myself, I try not to express them here or elsewhere as I don't wish to be a tool of the shorts.  My options are, still and always, to sell, hold or add.  I have chosen to add on this latest dip in pps.

My investment in IOC is probably one of the largest positions I have ever taken on a long term basis in my investing history and I have accumulated a bit over 15,000 shares over the past few years, at an average cost of less than current pps.  I have no intention of selling any time soon, if ever, as long as I agree with the direction(s) IOC management goes and the quality/value of the assets continue to increase.

I am hopeful that, in a few years, IOC will begin to distribute excess profits as dividends,  which should be significant.  Of course, this will also drive the pps upwards.

We have no current need for the money we have invested in IOC so the fluctuation of the pps doesn’t affect our lifestyle.

Having been involved in real estate speculation and development, we are used to the ups and downs of the markets and realize that patience is required, so we are not easily discouraged.

We believe that IOC will monetize their assets and develop their resources, known and unknown and will one day be quite valuable.

We are also resolved to the fact that IOC will be subject to and vulnerable to higher than normal volatility, as we have seen all along. But, eventually, once the assets are sufficiently monetized, this too shall pass. We are in for the long haul.

Well stated Art and Kommon. And Kommon, most of what you said IMHO defines a "long".  Not merely holding the stock for a certain period of time, but believeing BOTH that there is a valuable resource, and that there is a management team in place to eventually realize that value.  When you have something of great value, outside forces will always try and take it away.  It's the strength of those inside that you must have confidence in.

Palm, Kommon, and all, I was planning to end the comments to this thread but can not find myself to not respond to a very simple point. Palm, you are spot on with the need to have belief in the asset AND the management. I have said countless times (call it a fault if you want) "I believe in the assets but of management I am suspect". I feel much better with MH but there is still concern until they can seal at least 1 deal. Can we move on?
