Couple of things:
-
There was a big biotech selloff
-
It's bound to be volatile as it's still difficult to price it on earnings
-
It got from $1 to $6 from November last year, needs to digest that
Their IP, deal with BAT and upcoming MSA membership should ease the stress of this volatility considerably.

22nd Century's Technology Has Been Licensed By a $100 Billion Partner (British American Tobacco).
-
The technology is aimed at the $700 billion smoking market, both through safer cigarettes and smoking cessation.
-
It also appears that the patented technology could have potential with legalized medical (and recreational) marijuana.

E-cigarettes show that the potential demand for either low tar and/or low nicotine cigarettes could be huge, large numbers of people are willing to try alternatives to traditional cigarettes if these are less dangerous and/or help quitting ..
The number of people who use electronic cigarettes in the UK has tripled over the past two years to 2.1 million, a health charity estimates. It says just over half of current or ex-smokers have now tried electronic cigarettes, compared with 8% in 2010.
BBC News - E-cigarette users in UK have 'tripled' since 2010
E-cigarettes come in two parts: in one end there is liquid nicotine, and in the other a rechargeable battery and an atomiser. When the user sucks, the liquid nicotine is vaporised and absorbed through the mouth. What looks like smoke is largely water vapour, hence smoking e-cigarettes is often called vaping.
BBC News - The e-cigarettes phenomenon
Scientists say that if all smokers in the world switched from cigarettes to electronic cigarettes, it could save millions of lives. In the UK there are currently about 100,000 deaths per year attributable to smoking, worldwide it is estimated to be more than five million. Now researchers are hopeful that an increasing use of e-cigarettes could prevent some of these deaths. But some groups warn that e-cigarettes could normalise smoking.

Though Wells Fargo notes Reynolds would have to divest some significant menthol brands to get a Lorillard deal past regulators, the firm sees a deal as likely.

I likes the recreational marijuana prospect.
Politicos should give it a try too.

I'm not sure that prospect will materialize anytime soon, but the NASCO takeover and related MSA membership should be fairly imminent and give the shares a significant boost, IMHO. That's the only thing they need to start selling in the US.
The 100+ patents and selling opportunities elsewhere in the world should limit the downside

More than two million people in the UK get their nicotine hit via electronic cigarettes. But as 'vaping' replaces smoking – and is enthusiastically marketed by the beleaguered tobacco giants – no one is yet sure how safe it actually is
In 2013, according to a survey by YouGov for the anti-tobacco charity Ash (Action on Smoking and Health), the number of e-cigarette users in the UK surged to 2.1 million, a three-fold increase over the previous year. The investment bank Goldman Sachs puts the products top of a list of "creative destroyers" – including big data, 3D printing and natural gas engines – that are likely to turn their markets upside down, and sees annual global sales of e-cigarettes hitting $10bn within a few years.

Are we looking at preamble to Russell Index rebalancing act? Careful, market cap is small. Below $120-135M, may trigger another sell signal for big institutions. At $2.13 (200 dma), market cap is just $123M. Shorts may be interested to push the sucker below 200 dma to help the tutes' rebalancing act...
