Wahoo suspension announced morning of July 14, according to IOC website,

Jully 11, 2014 close:  $57.06      August 7, 2014 close:  $57.34

$0.28 rise, or about 0.5%.  Let's call it Flat.

During that same time period the S & P is down about  2.8%.

Those are the facts.  Interpret as you choose.

That date was the "official announcement" but I think the market was made aware that there were substantial challenges before that.  I believe it was this initial discussion of "safety problems due to high pressure" that started the pps slide.

The July 14 PR provided detailed information on the findings to date, status, and plans for Wahoo. Given how the stock has held up against the market since then, I think that is a strong indication that it is incorrect to conclude now that, "The market says that Wahoo is a dud.".

Just how wise is the market? Just how rational is its determination? When the market dropped precipitously in 2008 only to recover in the next several years was that a mark of intelligence in 2008 that we believe is somehow fundamentally admirable and worthy of leadership? The market is fundamentally stupid. Woe be us to ignore the stupid or always follow its lead.

It shows that the market, despite its presumed stupidity, is a lot more effective at making real money than many at SHU, including Getit, who -- as previously suggested -- should by now be swelling shales in PNG.

I agree CAC.  The problem(s) with Wahoo were discussed well before July 14.  The drop in pps followed.

Does anyone have the date of the first discussion by IOC on problems at Wahoo?

I know they discussed the problem back on June 24.  http://www.interoil.com/iocfiles/documen...L-PACK.pdf

Open price on June 24 was 66.80, close was 62.78.

Looking aat the chart, it looks like there was some knowledge or speculation  on June 23

I'm not sure what your point is, Petrovale, but I took full advantage of the 2008 crash, buying as much of IOC below $10 as I could.  The market definitely provides opportunities, sometimes huge ones, for those with the understanding and guts to take advantage.  A more recent one I identified was Facebook at $27 in early 2013, when most hated it.  My biggest screwup, of course, was Dec. 6, or should I say Dec. 5, apparently with plenty of company here. However, I think IOC is probably one of the best opportunities now, along with some biotechs.
